Former Catamount, ECHL Veteran Expected to Show Two-Way Prowess

Stars add Jeff Marshall as Equipment Manager for Inaugural Season

COLUMBUS, OH- The Columbus Stars inked an eighth player for its
inaugural United Hockey League season today, announced General
Manager Robb W. King and UHL Head Coach and Director of Hockey
Operations Malcolm Cameron.

B.J. Kilbourne, a four-year pro who played college hockey at the
University of Vermont, is the third forward to sign with the team. In
keeping with Coach Cameron's style of play, Kilbourne has ability to
play at both ends of the ice.

"Kilbourne is a good two-way player who will bring to this first-year
team some needed veteran leadership," said Cameron. "B.J. is a very
good offensive player, who is extremely good defensively."

The 26-year old Kilbourne is a Saranac Lake, NY native who has spent
the last four years in the East Coast Hockey League, three of which
ended with his team in the post-season. The five-foot nine-inch
forward was a fan favorite in Mobile where played for three years
(1999-2002) leading the Mystics into the playoffs twice. Kilbourne
spent last season in Trenton, NJ where he tied for second on the team
with five game-winning goals on another playoff team.

Kilbourne's playoff experience is not limited to his professional
career. He played for two University of Vermont teams that
participated in the NCAA tournament, including the 1995-96 team that
lost a Frozen Four semifinal classic, 2-1 in overtime, to Colorado
College in Cincinnati, OH.

Kilbourne is the eighth player signed for the Stars' inaugural season
which gets underway October 24th in Glens Falls, NY with a visit to
the Adirondack IceHawks. The Stars return rofessional hockey to the
Ohio Expo Center Coliseum on Friday, October 31st when they host the
defending Colonial Cup champion Fort Wayne Komets at 7 p.m. Also
inked for the upcoming season are forwards Matt Noga and Lee Jelenic
and efensemen Chad McIver, Steve Rodberg, Matt Medvecz, Derek Ernest
and Ryan Coole.

Marshall to handle the tools of the trade: The Stars have hired Jeff
Marshall as equipment manager for the 2003-04 season. The Sterling
Heights, MI native comes to Columbus from three years with the Toledo
Storm of the ECHL. Marshall, 27, has experience in the International
Hockey League as well as the ECHL and the UHL. Marshall was the
equipment manager for the Muskegon Fury's Colonial Cup championship
team in 1999, where Robb W. King was the General Manager.

The Columbus Stars Hockey Family includes the professional United
Hockey League Stars, the Junior B Central States Hockey League Stars
and the various age groups (Mite through Midget) of the Columbus
Stars Youth Travel Hockey Program. The Columbus Stars Ice Center,
located just off of Schrock Road on the north side of Columbus will
provide a unified location for practices and games. The Center is
scheduled to open in early September. Director of Hockey
Operations/UHL Head Coach Malcolm Cameron will provide a unifying
structure with player development and the joy of the game at its
core.
