The Elmira Jackals announced the signing of Kris Mallette today.
Mallette is the eleventh player signed by the Jackals for the 2003-
2004 season. This will be his second year in Elmira.
In 1997 Mallette was a 3rd round draft pick of the Philadelphia
Flyers. Last year in 78 games he had two goals and ten assists for a
total of twelve points. Kris also compiled 350 penalty minutes as one
of the teams enforcers on the ice. Mallette is the third Jackals
defensemen to sign, all of which are 6'3" or taller.
"Kris is a big solid defenseman with lots of character and
leadership", stated Jackals head coach Todd Brost. Brost also
added "I expect he, along with Gerry Hickey and Neil Posillico, to
provide our toughness and grit."
