From the Elmira Star-Gazette:
Elmira Jackals coach Todd Brost hoped to put the finishing touches on
a contract extension Saturday night, as the United Hockey League's
annual three-day meeting concluded in Las Vegas.
At press time, Brost, the only coach in Elmira's two-year history,
had yet to re-sign with the team. But he said Saturday afternoon that
he was hoping to meet with Jackals President Tamer Afr after the
day's final meeting.
Afr, who missed Thursday's events, arrived Friday and participated in
Saturday's board of governors meeting, during which rules changes
were voted on.

Additional points of interest in the story consist of the following
UHL rule changes:
In an effort to speed up games, faceoffs will come seven seconds --
not 10 seconds -- after the last whistle.
After every second home game, the home coach will submit a referee
evaluation to the league.
Goaltenders will be considered rookies until they've played 1,500
minutes, and they will be considered veterans after they've played
15,000 minutes. Previously, goalies were considered rookies until
they'd played in 25 games and veterans after they'd played in 250
games.
Also the number of vets a team is allowed may be decreased to five.
Also from the Elmira Star-Gazette:
The Jackals' toughest decision of the summer might come at the goalie
position, where coach Todd Brost will either have to choose between
Jeremy Symington and Christian Soucy, or figure out a way to appease
both.
"Both of them are entertaining coming back to Elmira as an option.
But I've got a feeling that both of them won't come back together,"
Brost said. "The simple reason for that is that both of them are too
good. Both of them deserve to be starters at this level."
Soucy, who was voted most valuable player by teammates after each of
Elmira's two seasons, had considered retiring this summer but
recently told Brost that he'd like to return next season.
Soucy, a nine-year veteran, earned United Hockey League goaltender of
the week honors three straight weeks in March and started all 14
playoff games. He finished the season 29-15-5 with a 2.70 goals-
against average.

Wolfie!
Still, it might have gone down as just another hockey night in
northern Michigan until a fan hopped over the plexiglass...Savo
Mitrovic, reached the man on the ice...(and) tried to hit the fan.
"He landed between me and my goalie," Mitrovic explained. "Who knew
what he had in his hands?"
