Icemen receive help, still lose to IceHawks
BY FROM STAFF REPORTS
GLENS FALLS -- Just as two of their toughest players
returned from injuries Friday night, the BC Icemen
returned to their losing ways.
Rugged forward Dave Jesiolowski played in his first
game since Oct. 31 and physical defenseman Eric
Andersen was in the lineup for the first time since
Dec. 15, but the Icemen were outshot badly in a 4-1
defeat to the Adirondack IceHawks before an announced
2,163 at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
"[Adirondack] played well defensively, and our
inability to generate quality scoring chances
certainly added to that fact," Icemen coach Brad Jones
said after his team was outshot, 36-17. The Icemen
(15-16-3) -- 3-3-0 on their eight-game, three-week
road trip -- were playing without leading scorer Chris
Grenville and sniper Sean Rowe, who are both nursing
assorted injuries. Rookie center Keith Aucoin, the
team's second-leading scorer, is still on recall with
the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters.
In their stead, only rookie center Marc Lauzon scored
for the Icemen. His goal at 10:00 of the first period
was his first professional tally.
Kevin St. Jacques, Adirondack's top center, had two
first-period goals, including the game-winner at 8:19.
Hugo Belanger, last season's United Hockey League MVP,
scored into an empty net with 33 seconds remaining.
Jesiolowski amassed 21 penalty minutes, including five
after a third-period fight with Brandon Fleenor, in
his return from a broken finger. Andersen, his
separated shoulder healed, took a first-period
elbowing minor.
