United Hockey League Press Release

Lake St. Louis, MO - The United Hockey League announced today the
disciplinary action handed down to members of the Asheville Smoke and
Knoxville Speed for their respective roles in a bench clearing fight in the
game on Sunday, January 28.

"The United Hockey League will not condone actions like the ones that took
place on Sunday," UHL Vice- President of Hockey Operations Mitch Lamoureux
said. "Players who intentionally take liberties with their opponents and
those who leave the bench during an altercation will have strict
disciplinary action taken against them. Individuals that direct players to
engage in altercations or injure opponents will also be dealt with in a
severe manner."

Knoxville Speed left wing Alain Savage has been suspended for the duration
of the 2000-01 season, including the entire playoffs. In order to return to
the United Hockey League in future seasons, Savage must first have a meeting
with League President Richard Brosal and Lamoureux.

Asheville Smoke Head Coach Pat Bingham and Smoke right wing Lee Svangstu
were suspended seven games apiece. Bingham sat out the League All-Star Game
on Tuesday and Thursday's game against Knoxville. He will also sit Friday
against Elmira and serve the final four games against Knoxville. Svangstu
sat Thursday's game against Knoxville and will sit Friday, Saturday against
Flint and the final four games against Knoxville.

Knoxville's Mike Henderson and Asheville's Bruce Watson, John Hewitt and
Bogdan Rudenko each received five-game suspensions. All four players served
the first game of the suspension on Thursday and will serve the final four
games when the teams meet head-to-head on March 3 (at Asheville), March 4
(at Knoxville), March 24 (at Knoxville) and March 25 (at Asheville).

Knoxville Head Coach Terry Ruskowski and Speed players Dean Shmyr and
Alexandre Alepin received three-game suspensions. Sergei Petrov of Knoxville
received a two-game suspension. Alepin served the first game on Thursday and
will sit the next two against Asheville. Ruskowski, Shmyr and Petrov will
serve their entire suspensions in the upcoming contests against the Smoke.

8 Years ago, Democrats said "He Lost, Get Over It".
Today, Rupublicans are saying the same thing.
