If you're bored over the summer, or looking for ways to get better at ultimate, try reading.  There are many interesting things you can read that will make you a better player, and help you enjoy the game more.  Some are more directly related to ultimate than others.

I highly recommend The Inner Game of Tennis by Timothy Galway.  I think every athlete should read this.  It will help you with your mental game (both in ultimate and elsewhere in life).  It's really short (~150 pages), and you can even skip the chapter on tennis.  Head to the library or buy a used copy on amazon for $4.

For ultimate related reading check out http://www.the-huddle.org   It has excellent articles on all aspects of ultimate. Here are two recent good articles:

http://www.the-huddle.org/issues/21/cutting-thoughts-and-techniques/
http://www.the-huddle.org/issues/21/what-else-makes-a-good-handler/

And there are many more on the site.  Enjoy.  -Alex

PS  Here are some more reading recommendations you can check out if you want more to read and/or they look interesting to you.  I have found all of these books to be very engaging, and they have really shaped the way I think.

Sports Slump Busting by Alan Goldberg - Even if you are not in a slump this offers great strategies for guiding your focus.
Wooden on Leadership by John Wooden
The Vision of A Champion OR Training Soccer Champions by Anson Dorrance - Anson Dorrance is a brilliant women's soccer coach at UNC.
Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl - A short book about the author's experience in the holocaust.  He is a psychoanalyst that has developed a theory that people are driven by a search for meaning in their lives, and that you can create meaning in any situation (no matter how horrible) by choosing what to focus on.

Getting even further from direct relation to ultimate but I found very good:
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig - Through the author's adventures this book investigates the question "what is quality?"  It is strange in a lot of parts, so unless you're really excited about reading this, don't worry about it
The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan (increasing your awareness of what you eat and why)

Also alexkorb.wordpress.com for more plyo and movement info.  I'm adding more stuff about jumping and laying out.
