Hello All,

What a great ride from “Coast to Coast” over the distance of 240 km.

Around 35 rider’s incl. 3 Tandems finished the ride in Fujairah Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort and enjoyed the party on the beach.

Last Friday some of us joined the Um Al Quwain Championships.

It was a Criterium over 72 Kilometers. It was a very fast race with several crashes and the race was won by some professional riders from Germany which where invited by the UAE Federation to participate in the race.

Everybody enjoyed the race and had a good time.

See you on the road

Hatta Ride Friday, March 2, 2007

TIMING: Our goal is to arrive at the Hatta Fort Hotel parking lot by 07:15AM and start the ride PROMPTLY at 0730.

DIRECTIONS: It takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to drive from Dubai to Hatta. You can find fog on the way so drive carefully and take this into consideration for the timing of the trip. The most direct route is to go east from the Defense Round about (Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dusit Hotel) and follow the signs to Hatta and Oman. You will be on the Emirates Highway E44 all the way to Hatta. You can also get to E44 from the Ring Road E311. The Hatta Fort Hotel is at the first roundabout on the left as you come to Hatta (you cannot miss it, there is a fort-like structure in the middle of the roundabout).

RIDING DISTANCES: Depending on the number of riders and interests there will be 3 rides to consider: Ride #1 - 70 km (2-3 hours) through the mountains from Hatta Fort towards Kalba to the first tunnel and return.  Ride #2 - 90 km (3-4 hours) Hatta to the top of the second tunnel and return; Ride #3 - 130 km (5-6 hours) Hatta to Kalba and back. Final discussions on routes will be made at the Hatta Fort parking lot at 0655.

PARKING: You will be charged 40 Dhs to get through the gate which will cover showers and the full amount will be deducted from any food or drink that is purchased. See you there. If you are not willing to pay the gate pass, you can park outside the hotel in the empty lots surrounding the roundabout.

MEETING POINT:  As there are several parking areas inside the hotel grounds and some may park outside the hotel, we will meet at 0725 by the Hotel Gate for a quick brief before the ride.

SUPPORT VEHICLES:  Volunteers needed. Please call Enrique Klien: M (050) 551 8695

Questions? Enrique Klien: M (050) 551 8695, Office: 04 886 09691 (try this number if you get an Etisalat recording) or eklien@...

After the Ride Friday the 09.03.07 we will go for a yummy brunch buffet at the

Organic Food and Café in Satwa

http://www.organicfoodsandcafe.com/locations.htm

It is always nice to sit together after the ride, have some good food and a nice talk. Please bring your family or friends as well.

The brunch costs 65 AED including tea, coffee and juices.

Please let me know if you want to join us, if possible before Wednesday the 07.03.2007, so I can make a reservation and make sure that we can all sit together.

Hi Wolfi,

If anyone is interested I am planning to do a 3 week cycle expedition from Lhasa (Tibet) to Mount Everest Base Camp then onto Katmandu starting 24 May until mid June.

Five 5000+m passes to cross on route and then 4000m descent to Katmandu! It will be fully supported with a truck to carry bags and is organized by a company in Katmandu.  Let me know if anyone is interested and I can send more details.

Cheers

Paul
