TEAM DUBAI

 

.... running Dubai and London Marathons ...

 

We're a team of 9 runners of very mixed ability who are running 2 marathons in 3 months to raise funds for the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) and Foresight a charity based in Dubai and dedicated to finding a cure for blindness.

 

Our target is Dhs 250,000

 

Please support us by coming along to Bateaux Dubai for an evening of Gourmet Dining on Wednesday 17th January 2007. 

 

Enjoy a four course dinner complete with beverages, good company in a fine setting with excellent raffle and auction prizes - all for a good cause!

Hello all,

 

Hope you all had great holidays … Just a reminder of the Nizwa ride …

The plan is , start from the French embassy at 7am on Thursday the 18^th , follow the highway to Nizwa (about 160km from Muscat) , we will have some stops to refuel the tanks , get to Nizwa by about 14:00 to 15:00 , have lunch at the hotel ( Falaj Dares ) then rest for sometime , then visit Nizwa old ( new now) market…

 

Ride back on the Friday the 19^th back to Muscat, same distance but shorter time, as Muscat is by the sea and we will be going down hill.. Ye haa …

Please note, this ride is not a race, so we will ride as a group and we will stay together all the way.

 

Red-bull is providing a support car, so you can bring your stuff on Thursday morning and hand it to them and it will be transferred to you to the hotel..

 

You can do some of the distance , or one way (to Nizwa and back by Taxi ) or come to the hotel by taxi and ride back the next morning to Muscst ) or you can come by taxi spend the night at the hotel then go back by taxi the next morning to Muscat. Or do what ever you like…

 

In order to book a hotel , I need to know how many people are staying the night of the 18^th …

Dear All,

 

As your probably aware, I will shortly be heading off to the Arctic to attempt, with my three team mates from Canada/UK, an all the way expedition to the North Pole – a 775km trek across the Arctic Ocean, leaving 12 Feb and arriving sometime by the end of April.

 

I aim to raise large funds for the Children’s Hope Foundation and Leukemia in the UAE from the expedition, and, as such, should any of you wish to contribute for this worthy cause please log in to www.adrianhayes.com  to see details of the campaign and for instructions on how to make a charity donation.

 

For Leukemia, suffice to say the disease has been very much under funded and under exposed in the UAE and the region, and there are 50 new children in Dubai alone diagnosed with the disease, with very little support to date. We hope this will raise the profile ten fold.

Hi Wolfi

 

Several of us were discussing a ride to Khasab along the Mussandam peninsula from the border checkpoint

 

We would ride to Khasab and back in one day, estimated 140-160kms. The route is a very scenic, hilly route.

 

We thought we would do this the weekend after your TT; 9/2/06.

 

We would leave Dubai by car say 6am, drive to the border approx 2.5hrs, pay our money ( AED 50 per person and around AED 100 for car), cross the border in cars, then park-up and cycle to Khasab.. and back.

 

I have spoken too many of the 120 group and they are keen to do this

 

I am not sure if we will have a support car, or if there would be groups to allow for different speeds and distances.
