Hello All,

You haven’t heard from me for two because I was attending the Eurobike fare in Germany.

It is the biggest cycling show in the world and I collected a t of information from different bike and component manufacturers from all over the world.

I have attached some pictures of the route we will take in Thailand so have a look and sign up today, its going to be fun.

If you want to take your wife or the whole family on the trip, even though they will not cycle, please let us know and we will see what we can do.

Looking forward to see you on the ride

Wolfi

Dear Biking Enthusiasts,

It seems that there is strong interest in joining the Biking Tour in October 2006 from Bangkok to the South of Thailand.

In order to take it to a more serious reservation, and as there is not much time left to organize the fantastic trip, we would need more commitment.

Please find attached a form detailing the following information:

- Down payment of AED 1,000

- Expected total package cost of AED 7,000 per person (to include flight tickets, accommodation, meals, repair service, escort cars and guides)

- You would also have the opportunity to take along your spouse or family along and accommodate them at a Beach Resort in Phuket while the group will ride from Bangkok to Phuket.

- You would have an option to extend your stay with your family or fly back immediately.

Thai Airways will give us once again a very favorable rate and through connections we expect to secure good room rates in Thailand.

The time is short for all the arrangements and I would need your confirmation latest by 15th of September or earlier, if possible.  Kindly forward the completed form directly to Wolfi.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Best regards,

Thomas Tapken

I would like to thank Jason Gormley for sponsoring the New Lights for the support cars.

It is very much appreciated and it will make all our riders safer

Thanks from all of us.

Please have a look at the race report from Paul Smith who finished the Ironman UK. Well done Paul

Wolfi

Hoped you had a good ride today and here's my little report back from Ironman UK. Look forward to some warm riding again soon!

"Well another Ironman bagged but it doesn't get any easier!

Initial goal was to beat 13 hrs (having done 13.49 in SA) so very pleased to have done:

Swim - 1.16.

Bike - 6.27

Run - 4.47

Total overall time - 12.38 hrs.

This was a tough course with something over 2000m of ascent on the bike and 800m on the run. The only good thing is that what goes up must come down and particularly on the bike was quite lively. Got it going over 70k/hr on one particular descent although did slow down a bit towards the bottom when saw ambulance and someone being scrapped off the tarmac!

The downhill on the run is not quite so helpful as with pretty tired quads it does make for a reasonably gritty time. The Run was an awful layout after running round Sherborne castle grounds for a bit we were then stuffed onto a dual carriageway and made to run out and back twice. One lane was bollarded off with cars rushing by to your side and it was like a roller coaster although no Ice Cream and nowhere near as many laughs!! Pretty unimaginative and began to look like a retreat from Moscow with quite a few seeming to have lost the will to live and a lot of walkers up the hills, including me.

Having woken up the day before with a bit of a cold I was pleased how I got round and now very much a convert to being underprepared, feeling groggy, excessive drinking and lack of sleep! It may not work for everyone though:)

Didn't enjoy this, funnily enough, as much as SA one as there was a distinct lack of atmosphere and the whole thing was a bit downbeat. The Ironman finish was more like a country fair then a full on rave so after I'd had a bit of time in provided hot tubs (best bit of the day!) thinned out. Feeling a bit like I've been in a car crash today but mobile and just aching.

Looking forward to a couple of sharpeners tonight and trash food!

Cheers Paul Smith

Hi Wolfi,

Its Sebastian here in Qatar I have spoken with you a few times. I am very interested in coming to Dubai to ride with you guys. I wanted to ask you if any of your cycling members would be interested in housing myself and a another rider for a weekend. I am do not have any dates in mind, I just thought it would make the trip less costly if we can stay with some one and also it would make it easier finding our way around, like getting to the ride etcetra. I have never been to Dubai. I was wondering if some one may be in a position to help us with accommodation. In exchange I have two spare rooms with two single beds in each room, in my large three bath room apartment here in Doha, I would be happy to welcome our Dubai Host or any other interested riders to stay with me for free in February during the tour of Qatar. Which the guys here tell me is a lot of fun, you get to meet the riders and teams even ride with them. Or at any suitable time.

A bit about my self, I was born in Uruguay, I travel on a Australian passport, I have lived in five countries, been riding since I was 15(I'm 30). I have raced at a keen armature level in Europe and Australia. I have been lucky to win many of the  won races I entered, but equally enjoy long slow sociable rides. I am a very relaxed person who enjoys meeting new people and travelling. I do enjoy a beer or glass of wine amongst friends.

Let me know what you think Wolfi. Have a great ride in Oman. May be I will join you next time.

Even if no can help out with acommodation I will pop over some time and stay at a hotel, so I can experience riding with you guys.

Best Regards,

Sebastian

Good Day Wolfie

As per our discussion I would like you to put this out to the database for those interested in the 30th Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour.  They would need to visit the site and look through the registration processes online.  The Tour is normally limited to 35,000 riders and as you know has a large International flavour.

For those interested I am happy to co-ordinate the "Dubai Tour Team" side of things with your database and information distribution assistance.

I suggest the following:

1.    You send out an email with the RED highlighted text below in the body of the mail.

2.    Upon return of interest we have a short "Info Meeting/Presentation" at your Shop (or our offices in Knowledge Village).  The aim is to answer all questions, give info needed and finalise committed persons.

3.    I will then run with the interest and make the Project and memorable occasion.

Dear Cyclist

It's that time of the year again - in a few short weeks entries for the 2007 Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour open.

In the meantime, why not get a bit of mouse-button practice and go to our website - www.cycletour.co.za - and click on "Update/Check my details".   If the names of friends or family members do not appear when you search, you can add them to our database by clicking on "Add a New Person".

By updating your details now, it will save you time when online entries open at 12 noon on 1 September when we anticipate a great deal of activity on our server.

Dates to diarise for the ARGUS PICK 'n PAY CYLE Life Cycle week are:

March 2007

Saturday, 3rd:                    Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Tricycle & Junior Tours

Sunday, 4th:                      Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Mountain Bike Challenge

Wed 7th to Sat 10th:           Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Giro del Capo

Wed 7th to Sat 10th:           Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour Reg & Expo

Friday, 9th:                       Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour Pasta Evening

Sunday, 11th:                    The 30th Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour

Your thoughts on this would be appreciated and lets see if it's viable once sensing the response.

Regards
