Hello All,
I have to say it is impressive to see
how most of the riders have improved there fitness level in the last month.
It is nice to see how friendly and welcoming
all the riders treat new people joining the group. Well done and keep it up.
The drivers of the support car
mentioned that that they can only protect the riders when the stay in one
lane. So please try to avoid changing
lanes and crossing the line which
separates the lanes from each other. Even though we have three support cars we
are not immortal and we have to respect the rules of the road and ride as safe
and predictable as possible.
We should keep the pattern of two riders
next to each other and not to bulk up especially on and after the little
climbs.
Stronger riders can help others by
giving them draft to catch the group instead of passing them with high speed
and leaving them behind.
If it comes to the split point at the
Traffic light in Academic city please be sensible which distance you are
planning to ride as the weather
conditions are more challenging at
the moment. It is better to finish comfortable in the 70 group then struggling
in the 100 km group.
Again many thanks to our SUPPORT
DRIVERS last week - Donna, Julio and once again Uwe. It is very much
appreciated by the whole group.
I friend of
us I offering Samba Dancing Lessons so if you want to improve your bike
handling skills give it a try ( Please see the flyer attached)
Thanks to all of you
Wolfi and Team
Apart from
warning traffic that there are riders on the road the support cars have also
managed to pick you those dropped from the pack, mend
punctures,
patch up those who have fallen and have even topped up riders water bottles
with extra cold water. In the future, we would like each
support car to
carry a file containing all riders’ emergency details, including
insurance and next of kin information which will assist in a
speedy response
in cases of emergency.
In order for
this to work every week more volunteers are needed. There are over 80 riders
joining the Friday rides and it would only take each person
to volunteer
twice to cover the rides with 3 cars a week for the whole year. If you
to Francesca or
Helen at; franticfran27@... or
helen.chastney@...
During the Coast to Coast ride
Francesca and Andy organized some nice pictures of the riders.
We have an album in the shop and you
can have a look at the pictures and order them if you like.
The price per picture is 5 Dirham and
we will use the profit to organize some more safety equipment for our Friday
rides like flashing lights and
first aid kits.
Quote of the Week
"I
their force per se that impresses me, but rather
the renaissance they experience. Seeing them suffer throughout the race only to
be reborn in the final is something for fascination." -- Miguel Indurain
I have attached a letter from Ahmed
Barakat to the group.
Please see the EMERGENCY CONTACT FORM
which you can print and keep it on your bike (maybe in your saddle back) so we
know who to contact so that we
know who to contact in case of an
accident, and who you are insured with.
You can send us a copy as well which
we will keep in the support car.
