Evening, morning, whatever....

Just a couple quick things while I'm thinking of it.

NEW YORK 7s - I think we have 3 definites, so we're not doing NY 7s.  If you want to go, I can probably get you on a team up there or you can work for me (I don't need too many more people working for me though)

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE - You do not need to have $50 in donations to sign up....you can raise $5 as far as they're concerned....or nothing too, I think.  As far as getting one of the super-awesome team shirts that I'm donating, you DO have to raise $50 (and you get a sweatshirt from the PLUNGE PEOPLE too).  So, if you're going to plunge, just sign up.

PRACTICE THIS AFTERNOON - Thank you to the six people that showed up and practiced...I think it was fun.  Ladies, I drive a heck of a long way for YOU.  While I appreciate the six people that WERE there, being there....six out of 35 people sucks.  It's almost 2:30AM and I'm still at work....I'm a busy guy...I don't need to make pointless trips down to Towson.

THANKSGIVING - If you're stranded in Towson for Thanksgiving and/or don't have a place to go for Turkey Day, I'm making dinner at my house...yes, I CAN cook, and quite well too.  So, if you don't have a place to go that day, you're welcome to have dinner at my house in Abingdon.

If I don't talk to you, have a great Thanksgiving break.

Jeff

Reminder....practice is at 3:30PM today (NOT 6PM)!!!

We're going to do Rugby Sevens 101 and then just play some sevens.  I'm hoping to be able to split into three teams and just play a bunch of matches.

Yo,

You all don't need to e-mail and let me know you're going to do the plunge...you just need to go on-line and sign yourself up.

I'm heading this madness up, sooooooo I get an automated e-mail every single person that signs up.

If we get over a hundred plungers we're going to have a heated tent, so hopefully we get to that level :)

Lata,
Jeff

CLARIFICATION for freebies I'm donating;
- Folks MUST raise $50 individually for a free plunge team t-shirt from me

- If someone donates $60 to the team's "general team donation"....I'll SEND them a team t-shirt (after all they're not jumping in cold water with us)
IMPORTANT NOTE - It DOES NOT count if someone donates $60 to a specific person (after all...it's going to the person's fundraising total).  It must be donated as a "general team donation!!!!!"

- Donate or raise $150 and I'll give/send the person a team t-shirt AND team hooded sweatshirt!!!!

Just wanted to clarify this sooner than later,
Jeff

Hi ladies,

At a minimum, so far we have North Bay Men, North Bay Women, Severn River Men, Severn River Women, and West Potomac RFC plunging with us.

We're officially set up as "Rugby Plungers of Maryland" for the MD Polar Bear Plunge which is on January 30!  We're dipping at 1PM.  If we get enough plungers (100+), we'll have our own tent area.

I'm going to sponsor FREE t-shirts for EVERYONE that plunges....the teams that put 15 or more players in the plunge will have a nice large team logo on the back.....sooo I'm hoping OUR team can pull in another 15.

It's a ridiculously fun day.  We're trying to get 101+ folks on our team and asking everyone to raise $75 each.  The money goes for a good cause; Special Olympics of Maryland.

Please pass this along to everyone...the more the merrier.  Friends and family can join too; they don't need to be a rugby player to plunge with us.  You can join the team at the link below.

OR, folks can make a personal or general team donation at the link below.

If any of your friends or family have questions, comments, or concerns have them drop me a note (steamrollerjeff@...) or give me a call (443.553.7070).

Hi all,

FIRST, if you would like to play in the Severn River versus Salisbury match, you MUST be down at Severn River at 11:30AM for warm-up.  If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to Jeanna (team captain) at unplumbed@... or her number is 443.370.7901.

I know they need a front row player, flanker(s), and wings...if you head down, you're likely to get some playing time.  I am not heading down, so everything will be headed up through Jeanna.

TEAM MEETING
Thanks to all that came to the meeting on Wednesday.  Unfortunately, thanks to our continued probation into the spring (that I just learned about that night), we couldn't talk about some of the fun trips I was considering.

TEAM "BEHAVIOR" (for complete lack of a better term)
Annnyway....one of the key things that I talked about is team "behavior."  I don't want to be going through the pain/stress/frustration of future suspensions/appeals/etc EVER AGAIN!!  If this team is going to make it to Nationals we can't be dealing with that BS (I'm not going to go through it again over needless shyte...interpret that as you will).  You ALL are responsible for ensuring the future of this program by policing one another.  That doesn't mean TELLING each other what to do...that means each of you represent the team well and make good choices.  Yes, you can have fun, but be mindful of how team activities affect the future of the program.

As I mentioned Wednesday, Virginia Tech constitutes a "team gathering" as 6 or more players from a program.  A handful of players from their D3 side destroyed the entire season for 90 players....national ranking, Nationals, gone...and gone...  We all know that TU has VERY loose "legal" definitions on their rules.  Take care with what you're doing when together as a team.

NEW YORK SEVENS TOURNAMENT
I need to know who would want to definitely play on Saturday, November 28 in a sevens tournament up in New York City.  We need at least TEN definites.  Jackie was a definite, and Monica was an "I think so, but I'll let you know for sure."

PRACTICES
As of right now, we are practicing next Wednesday (November 18) at 3:30PM.  It'll be an introduction to playing sevens....we'll do fun stuff, but also some drills on how to play offensive and defensive sevens.

UPCOMING MEETINGS
Dec. 5 - PRU Board of Govenor's Meeting in DC.  Every team must send a representative, I usually represent four or five teams, so I will be going.  If you would like to join me for the "fun"...feel free

Dec. 12 - PRU Collegiate Competition Meeting.  I would like AT LEAST two veteran players to join me for this meeting.  There are a number of issues that will be discussed.  I'll drive unless you want to meet me at the location.

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
We are doing the Polar Bear Plunge again next year.  I had Lauren hold off on registering our team because I might be pulling some strings to get us a large tent on the beach and parking passes right there at the site.  The catch is that we would be plunging as a larger group of rugby players (Severn River, North Bay)...so we wouldn't be plunging as "TU Women's Rugby" but rather "Rugger Plungers" or something like that.

WORKING RAVENS GAME(S)
There is a couple opportunities to work Ravens games coming up.  I'd like to do at least one and I'd expect that the grand majority of the team get their butts down there.  Details forthcoming.

SPRING PRACTICES
In the spring we will be practicing on Sunday afternoons up until spring break, so plan for it.  We also will practice twice during the week...likely inside a gym OR I might be able to get us access to a turf field reasonably close to campus.

SPRING MATCHES/TOURNAMENTS
Jamie and I will start working out the spring schedule soon.  We are going to try and avoid our usual fall opponents, but we might add one or two so we're not travelling all over the place.

We WILL be going back out to WVU's Chicken Tournament out in Morgantown.  It would be nice to return and win the women's bracket again.  Also, F&M's Buggie Bash Tournament was discussed.  Other match opponents will include a trip to Princeton (we owe them), Drexel, LaSalle, Mary Washington, Hofstra, and possibly York College's Prom Dress Rugby Tournament (perhaps I'll wear a tux....).

That is all for now,
Jeff

Afternoon,

As you all know, it is raining out....so there will be NO practice.

We are still having a team meeting...plan on it being at the common area inside Newell Hall (next to the practice field)...8:30PM.

I have a number of very important topics to discuss and we have a number of decisions to make.  It'll be pretty quick....one hour max.

If I can drive down from Bel Air and back for this meeting...you can take an hour out of your life and get your butts over to Newell.

If you have topics of discussion that you'd like to have included on the agenda, let me know by e-mail.

See you in a few hours,
Jeff

Ladies,

I was wrong....the match between Severn River and Salisbury is up at SEVERN RIVER, 1PM (so no trip down to Salisbury).  I was told to tell you that you're welcome to head to Acme (Severn's team bar) after the match and stay overnight if you want.

WEDNESDAY PRACTICE - 7PM, not 6PM.

TEAM MEETING AFTERWARD - We will be having a team meeting at 8:15/8:30 PM, WEDNESDAY, somewhere near the practice pitch.  We have a number of things to discuss....everything from team apparel, to spring tournaments/trips, fundraising, practice schedule, and whatever else I can't think of.
