MARFUs is going to come a lot quicker than you think....and I've already started working and preparing for our matches.  Yes, you do have an awesome coach, thank you.

If you think UDel is going to be an easy match, a walk-through, a guaranteed win...you're WRONG!  We have a lot of issues stacked against us, and I'm going to do all I can to mitigate those issues and give us a better chance to win.

With that said....I need to know what your status is for MARFUs and training for it.  Please answer to the best of your current knowledge.....I need to know, and I'm NOT chasing you down for answers.

Availability (yes/no);
Practice the week spring break (Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday day, March 17-19)?
Scrimmage Wednesday, March 18 (night)?
UDel Match Saturday, March 21?
MARFU Elite 8, Saturday/Sunday, March 28/29?

I'm not trying to be a jerk by saying this, but if you're not at spring break practices, you're probably not starting.  We need 15 players playing their best rugby to beat UDel....a week of non-rugby (and whatever else) doesn't help the odds that you'll play your best.  Winning rugby is played by 15 players that can react well to one another...communicate...anticipate...and execute together.  We can't afford for players to work out their cobwebs on the pitch.

With THAT said, our best 15 players are going to be on the field at any point in time.  Every single one of you has the capability to be an asset on the pitch....you just gotta decide whether you want to do what it takes to be in the best shape, to build your rugby mind (so basic rugby is automatic), and work on your weaknesses to be the best player you can.

If you have questions, concerns, or just want to talk to me about MARFUs and training leading up to it, feel free to call (443.553.7070), drop me a note, or grab me after a practice.

You will have a training program for the off-season.  I'll warn you now...the biggest mistake you can make is to stop and say "I'll start next week."  Chances are you'll never start or it'll be too late.

When you come back from winter break we are having a "fitness test"...some of what you may find fun (some of it includes competing against me).  Let's just say you REALLY (really really really REALLY) won't like what follows if the team fails the test.  And, we'll keep doing really really really evil/sadistic training stuff until everyone does pass.

We have the heart, talent, and building the skills to win a National Championship....are you willing to do what it takes?

That is all....if you skimmed over this note....go back and read it!  I need to know what your status is for MARFUs.

Jeff
