Ladies,
We would like you to know that we are very disappointed in a few of
you, and saddened by the lack of disrespect shown toward us and your
captains this past Sunday.
When a guest coach is asked to attend your practice, because your
coaches cannot, we expect the same level of respect you give to us,
if not more. The guest coach is volunteering their free time and
knowledge, and we expect you to understand that and share it with
them. We thought it was within your maturity level to handle not
being supervised for the first hour of practice, and that you could
benefit from watching an instructional DVD. This is not simply
a "substitute teacher" you can choose to ignore or abuse.
We want to be very clear about our expectations of this team. The
end score of any games you play as Towson University Women's Rugby
Football Club is not important to us. While winning a championship
would be a wonderful end result, this only happens for dedicated,
developed, and passionate teams. Winning a championship will only
result from a culmination of your effort and dedication. Teams of
high caliber and championship quality understand that nothing is
given and everything is earned.
What coaches value most is that you attend practice ready to be
attentive, work hard, be open-minded and learn a game that we have a
HUGE passion for. Beyond that winning comes if you have those pieces
in place.
Outside of rugby time (practice, games, and tournaments) we are not
concerned with your actions. We expect passion on the field and
simply hope what happens off-field will not effect what happens on
the field. When you are on rugby time we do care what happens. For
every action there is an opposite reaction. Due to the actions of a
few for the Catholic game on 3/29, you will be short three players
who will be benched for their lack of respect for their captains and
coaches.
This is now your chance to look at yourselves and ask if you plan on
uniting and becoming the great team your coaches think you can be.
We know this team has a lot of potential if only the drive existed.
Plan on attending practice today (Tuesday) and meeting after spring
break for outdoor practices Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-8
pm on Newell Field. Please be safe and enjoy your spring break.
