Ladies,

Please take last weekend's game against catholic as a learning experience. Watching from the sidelines, Leslie and I were able to see where we need to improve.
The breakdown of what we saw was this:

In the first half, we made some silly penalties. They were the following (and the first few were within the first 15 minutes of the game): offsides, high tackle, obstruction, playing the ball on the ground, and collapsing a maul. The first scrum that was ours, we allowed them to wheel us; however, we won the rest of our put-ins. We won the majority of our line-outs and stole one of theirs. We lost more rucks than we won, and we lost both mauls.

The second half, we only had one major penalty - a dangerous tackle.  The scrums were even. We won all of ours and did not steal any.  We won all of our own line-outs.  But again, on rucks, we lost far more than we won. And there weren't any major mauls.

So, obviously, the main thing we need to work on is our rucking and defense.  All of Catholic's trys were made because we allowed them to break to the outside and did not commit soon enough to our tackles.
Another thing that YOU all need to work on is getting your heads in the game. It was very apparent that your heads were not into it. This is something that Leslie and I can not teach you. We can prepare you physically for each game, but the mental aspect of the game depends on the individual players.

Send me and leslie your personal post-game assessments by wednesday at noon: 3 thing you did well, 3 things to improve.

Please try to do some light activity today to stretch out your muscles. Leslie will see you Tuesday, and we will both see you on Wednesday.

Cheers,

Syd

ps - Leslie and I are currently working on giving each you feedback on your individual performance
