ladies,
first, i would like to congratulate you all on towson's first win of a matrix season. you all played very hard and definitely showed that you were not to be underestimated.
with that being said, now you have made a statement. you have proved that you can play one full game. now you need to prove that you can consistantly play for the entire season. this is where the work really comes in.
first half was very rough. we were sluggish, not moving the ball, not trusting each other. and you all had this crazy idea that if you ran sideways, you would somehow score...
the second half was much better than the first. i think you all realized that you were actually playing rugby at that point and had teammates. you started supporting each other. and a few of you actually figured out that if you run up the field, you actually gain ground towards the try line. wierd how that works out.
things to think about this week -
1 - support your teammate. no one should ever run alone.
2 - if you run low, you are harder to tackle
3 - a low tackle avoids nasty stiff arms
4 - rucking and mauling with your shoulders actually works, as opposed to using your chest (i hope some of you put ice in your sports bras to ease the bruising and swelling)
5 - if you are already wrapped up, it's too late to try to pass the ball. go to ground and set the ball
6 - support your teammates
7 - always be looking around your to find your opposition, ball, and teammates
8 - that ball is your ball. play like your life depends on that ball. beacuse in my eyes, it does.
that is all.
enjoy practice tonight. i will be out there to berrate you all on wednesday. kidding. but not really
syd
