Re: [tristatewushukungfu] Chinese Lunar New Year events in the Philly area Jan 26 Year of the Ox!

Kyle and I were watching TV when he reminded me. You know my short term memory is shot, kidding.

Hey Mel, Check this out. Kyle and I are both born in the year of the Ox. Don't know about you but I think that's pretty cool.

Hey did that marketing company I worked for out there send my W-2 to your place??

Want to spend the day having fun and doing Taiji related stuff? I
wanted to let you know about some Chinese New Year events coming up -
why don't you join us? On Saturday, January 24, 2009, in
Philadelphia, we will be celebrating Chinese New Year's with our
fellow Enthusiasts.

First we will welcome the Year of the Ox, from 10 AM to 4 PM, at the
Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology on South St. Our
webmaster and one of our board members, Steve Arbitman, will perform
at 1:00 pm with the Ba'z Tai Chi Studio. You can spend the afternoon
watching other demonstrations of calligraphy, Chinese opera, a Lion
Dance, and more. The Museum requests a $12 donation for adults and
$7 for children. See the museum website for more information.

After the Lion Dance, we will be heading over to Chinatown for a full
New Year's Banquet starting at 5:00 PM with David and Elston
Phillips, (also a board member and Festival director). The banquet
will be at the Imperial Inn at 146 N10th St. The cost is $32.50 and
you can see the menu here. You must register in advance for the
banquet. Contact cmbstaichiassoc@ aol.com or call 215-943-1285 by
Thursday, January 22 to register. Specfiy the number of people and
your name and contact information. Credit Cards accepted.

And, of course, don't forget to put June 19, 20, and 21, 2009 in your
calendar for the Taijiquan Enthusiasts Organization and the Tai Chi
Club of Kutztown University's Health and Martial Arts Festival. So
far we have workshop leaders coming from Canada, California, Ohio,
Florida, and Texas. The program is really looking great, and we are
hoping that you will join us. There will be workshop not just on
Taiji forms, weapons, and push hands, but also many alternative
health items such as massage, qigong, supplements, and
accupuncture. There will also be business workshops on how to
ensure that your taiji school and/or alternative health organizations
are profitable, especially in these hard economic times. We are
actively looking for sponsors presently, so if you know anyone who
would benefit from sponsoring, send them our way.

Now is also the time to consider nominating your favorite person for
an Enthusiasts Choice award to be given at the June 20th banquet.
There are lots of different awards - so check it out.

Also, don't forget the Zhang San Feng Festival in New York on June 4-
7 and the Taijiquan Symposium with China's top 5 Masters in
Nashville, Tennessee on July 5-10. This summer is going to be a
veritable wealth of Taijiquan opportunities!

In any case, I hope that you can make it to the Chinese New Year
events. If you have a cell phone and you send me your number, I'll
contact you at the Museum to let you know where we are meeting.
