Hey gang,
Its been a week and sorry for the late update The Weekend up in
Wantage NJ at Tai Chi Park was an amazing time had by all! We were
blessed with beautiful weather, Misquitos were a non issue! We were
expecting the worst and packed our bug spray but it was not necessary
I was happy to learn. I was stressing the week leading up to our trip
up when I learned that our Liondance team were expected to lead the
procession of guests to the memorial alter of Master Jou TsungHwa. We
never performed while moving before so I had to construct some sort of
Cart for the drum. I made several trips to Home Depot before I was
done but was successful in my design! Still it was quite challenging
trying to keep up with the the drum over the rough terrain and not
miss a beat! I got hung up on shrubbery quite a few times. The main
thing was that our tail dancer Shannon got hung up in traffic on the
way to the location and due to time constraints, we were forced to
commence without him! My stress levels were off the charts! It all
worked out however when Dr John Lee, whom I can't thank enough, came
to our rescue and jumped in under the Tail buying us time until
Shannon arrrived to take over and finish the dance to an appreciative
audience. Another highlight occurred on Sunday when I was asked to
perform in the group demonstration with the rest of the presenters and
masters in an unrehearesed mock battle of mixed Chinese weaponry which
I wielded the only 3 sectioned staff. Very catching and unique due to
its design of metal rods. It was an instant hit. Footage of the demo
has been posted on YOUTUBE.com. The link can be found on the side bar
under LINKS! Titled TaiChi park group demo08!
Cheers!
