Hey gang,
Last Saturday was the MidAutumn Moon festival in Philly's Chinatown
hosted by AsiansAmericanUnited.org Attending this event has become a
tradition with my group. Big fun to trek down into Chinatown to see
the Liondances and Kungfu demos by Cheung's Hung Gar Kungfu academy.
We found out the date at the very last minute and quite by chance
while listening to the radio of the heavy traffic congestion in
Center city. For some reason we could not find info posted on the
internet ahead of time, we would have otherwise missed this years
event thinking it would be sometime nextweek as was last year. The
Kung fu demo began at 4pm concluding with a liondance parade through
Chinatown. I bought a tiny Chinese lion puppet at my favorite shop
and joined in on the parade along side the full sized kungfu lions.
Seems I was a hit with onlookers pointing at me and clapping. I even
did a mini show of my own as best as I could with my recovering
shoulder to the delight of a cute little toddler and his family that
waved me in closer to them. We ended our exhaustive evening with a
nice dinner at one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in town.
Cheers!
