Hey gang,
Last night at the very last minute I took a chance and called in a
vacation day so I could go and see the midnight Newyears celebration
in Philly's Chinatown I've heard alot about. With such short notice,
I was only able to get my daughtor Melanie from college to join me at
that late hour. For those who didn't go, you certainly missed out on
a great time. This is a must do next year for sure. 3 liondance teams
were out in the streets reprsenting 2 kungfu schools and a community
organization. The midnight atomosphere added to the excitment. There
was no wind so it wasn't too cold out. Parking was surprisingly easy
to find in the street and free. Its usually a nightmare any other
time. Afterwards when the action died down everyone rushed to the
restaurants to eat as well as warmup. They were filling up fast. Next
year I will plan ahead and hopefully more of us can go down and enjoy
as a group! I think there may be one last weekend coming up to catch
the newyears fun in Chinatown. Our own team will be performing this
Saturday at the Golden Pheonix Restaurant, 911 Arch St Philadelphia
at 6pm.
Cheers!
Mel
