Hey Gang,
Claudia, Kent, Dustin and myself were invited to perform the
Liondance to open the Phila Area Taji Association's 4 annual
Festival Spring Festival Sat 6/17/06. Located in the Historic and
quaint "Old City" section of Philly. We debuted our newest lion,a
multi colored med sized lion acquired from our friend John Lee. Kent
and Dustin performed the dance while I manned the drum and Claudia
backed me on gong. The location was Chirst Church on 2nd and Market
St. Built in the late 1700's. I understand we were lucky this year,
the location in notoriously hot most times but this year a cool
breeze kept things tolerable. The audience was appreciative to the
performers and impressed with the lifts, Especiall the shoulder
stand, and other stunts. Dustin had to leave immediately but the
rest of us stayed. The Festival was a treat with impressive demos of
Internal arts. The highlights were instructions in Pushhands play by
Dr Chen from Maryland, Chenstyle demo by Frank Shiery and new, was a
most impressive demo of BaGua Zhang by William Ting. We'll have to
make it a point to attend again next year!
Cheers!
Mel
