Hey Gang!
It was just one of those great times when everything just came
together. Firday night at 8:00Pm Our Liondance team performed at the
NAFMA Hall of Fame Dinner banquet Awards. With a first time ever 3
Lion routine! At the very last minute I recruited Tonji System alumni
blackbelts Saboto Trent, Ben Outlaw, Todd Grahm, and Shannon Boggan
in a desparate attempt to fill the ranks when it was looking too
dicey with the absence or regulars Jeana, Kent and Jim. It worked out
amazingly well. In just 3 days time these guys went from "not knowing
jack" to performing for us. We negotiated a nice deal with the
tournament promotor for our services. We had to make last minute
adjustments due to the confines of the ballroom but We were
overwhemingly well recieved! The applause was thunderous and we got a
standing ovation! we drove home only to have to do it again the next
morning in addition to competing. The Magic wasnt over! Again a
wonderful performance by the liondance team then next up was martial
arts competition. Kudos to all who got out there and comepted.
Brandon Hillis took home 2 first place trophies for forms and weapons
netting a 6 ft trophy and a Samurai sword. He also took a well fought
for 3rd in fighting. Stephanie Wascowitz took home 2 2nd places for
forms and weapons and a 3rd in fighting. Brandon, Steph and myself
were handicaped due to the fact they didnt like our regular swords we
used and we had to settle for a last minute substitution that to good
friend John Lee. Todd Grahm Shannon Boggan and Saboto Trent took home
well fought 3rd places. I myself took home two 3rd in weapons and
trad forms and a 2nd in open froms. Ben Outlaw brought home his very
first Grand Cahmpionship win defeating amazing fighters for a well
deserved win! Congrats!
