Hey Gang,

For those members who didn't make it out Saturday to the park
Ampitheator last Saturday. You missed a great one. We narrowly
escaped a rainout postponement. It was looking ugly weatherwise, with
lightening and the darkest clouds in the distance for a secoond but
miraculously not a drop come performance time. Infact it got
downright hot and sunny afterwards. The Liondance team was first up.
The audience seemed appreciative enough though we were shy a few
members by one lion and a cymbal player and the dance team has been
better in the past but we put on a good show and pulled off another
first in a realtime performance, a full shoulder stand from a headsit
by Kent and Dustin which was the highlight of their dance! We found
out at the last minute that Coach LI didnt bring any CD music with
him for the demo and for this kind of thing you really need it.
Luckily Tammy brought along her CD case and we winged it from there.
She had some nice selections that worked surprisingly well with the
wushu and Taichi teams. But before all that Coach Li "sprung one on
me" by having me hand drum music off the top of my head while the
wushu team performed the "Demo Handform" Wouldn't you know it? We
were a hit! Actually it is traditional in very old Kungfu schools to
perform by drumbeat so we had a taste of "Old school China! The rest
of the day was New school "Techno/Trance with wushu and "New age"
taichi excellant performances by what seemed the largest group Coach
Li has put together yet in the best venue at the ampitheator with the
wonderfully matted surface. They finally pulled the plug on us
however, It seemed we were only scheduled for about 20 minutes max
and we were on for nearly 45 mins! *LOL* I understand some excellant
pics were taken and they should be posted very soon!
