Hello Daniel,
Welcome aboard! Funny I originally considered calling
my group the Bristol Kali group at one time. My
background is heavy in JKD concepts under Paul Vunak,
I started back in '86. Fought in stickfighting
tournaments etc. Explored the DogBros methods. Marc
Denny, Marc Wiley, Kevin Seamen were all just really
starting out, and were classmates back in the day.
Ever heard of Sonny Umpad? Funny but we were pals that
hung out in dnace clubs in the bay area. We never knew
that the other was devoted martial artists. I'm
usually
big on bringing the subject up with everyone I meet
but somehow it escaped us both. 4 years later well
after I moved back to the Eastcoast, I open a martial
arts magazine to read and there Sonny is! Turns out
that he is a premier, well respected Filipino knife
expert. It all makes sense, all the great martial
artists in FMA can dance well. Obviously I'm haevily
invlolved in the Chinese arts too. They are too
beautiful and rich to give up, despite my
JKD/practical training. I feel there is room for them
too. I've also explored Savate,Muay Thai. Sambo, BJJ
and value all of my training. Even competition Sport
karate has been good to me.
