Hey gang,

It was a big martial arts week that just past. First of all former
student of coach Li's and old friend, Laura Marable now Mrs Wang came
back to the US for a short visit after being away in China for the
last 3 years to see her new grandkids and catch up with old
classmates. It was a treat to hear her stories of training with the
Shaolin monks and life in China. She showed us her photo albums and
demonstrated impressive skills, taught us a beginner's Shaolin form
very siimilar to the Chang Quan Yilo Arlo form we know. She left to
return to China last Thursday. Hopefully she'll return in the next
year and bring her new husband with her. Next up was LMAC student
Daq, who celebrated his 7th birthday. His party was held on Saturday
at the Coach Li's school. THere were impressive martial arts and
gymnastics skills displayed for Daqs friends by the LMAC demo team as
well as the Boy of Honor himself, Daq! Finally on Sunday came the 1st
annual Children's karate tournament held at the Prospect Park Pa
YMCA. The facility was a bit small and there were some unfortunate
issues with space which affected wushu performances of Bristol
students Kent and Jeana but they put aside their disappointments and
brought their "A" game for the sparring divisions and took well
earned first places in their respective divisions. Which was a first
time for Kent.
