Croydon Day demo and Taiji picnic a good time!   Message List

Hey gang,

Last weeks demo Sat and Taiji Picnic Sunday came off well. The
highlights of the demo I'd have to say were Tammy and Dustin's 2
person staff fighting routine which they pretty much choreographed
themselves with alittle help from me. My 3 section staff routine was
also well recieved. Everyone did a great job. Honorable mentions are
Claudia debuting the NanDao sword routine. Kent with Nanquan to some
cool music from Mortal Kombat. Melanie in a rare appearance with
broadsword. Jeana with Longfist, also appearing with Kent Debuting a
2person fighting set. Jim with Tiger hooks. The Combination 24 hand
and 32 sword Taiji demonstration came off well also. We were all
happy with how it all came together and have gained fresh ideas on
how to improve our routine for future events. THe ver next day was
the annual Taiji picnic in Tyler State park. Noticeabley smaller in
turnout for several reasons. One being that the usual location was
under contruction and the other being some internal conflicts with
members of the Taichi Union hosting the event. Actually though
smaller I felt we came away with alot more because those of us that
attended participated in very interesting workshops on Wild Goose
Chi Gung and learning the finer points of Traditonal Yand style
Taiji. We also witness the debut of a new 49 posture Yang routine. I
demo'ed the 42 Yang competition sword. There was some slight
apprehenion however. It seems that the park Rangers were on location
before our arrival and advised everone agianst the display of any
bladed pointed weapon with the park grounds so I had to keep an eye
out. This problem never came up in the last 3 years we attended.
Next year is supposed to be bigger and better with expansion to a 2
day event. We'll see waht happens. Pics will be up soon!

Cheers

Mel
