Races to be held at Otsiningo Park, Binghamton, NY. Races start at
10:00 AM with race day registration starting at 9:00 AM. No
pre-registration. Fee: free to TCRC members or $10 for non-members to
cover all four races. All members are encouraged to pay their 2009
membership dues at the Freeze races. Refreshments will be provided.

The course is a paved 2 mile loop in the park. USAT&F Certified

rooms) closest to I 81. A Google Map to Otsiningo Park is available.

end of the park. Make a right turn to the northern-most building (past
the large white area near I-81 in Google Map) where registration is held.

there will be overall awards at the end of the series. To be eligble
for the overall award, you must participate in a minimum of 3 races.

An early start at 9:30 AM is available for those expecting to run
much slower than the main group of participants. Please register by

MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone.

Hi, Grace:
This is a reminder that the Triple Cities Ski Club is having its
annual Ski Sale this weekend, Sunday, Nov 23 from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
JC American Legion, 429 Main St, Johnson City. Plenty of cross
country skis, boots, snowshoes, etc. Families can bring in the boots
that don't fit anymore and put them in the sale and pick up larger
ones for the coming season. This makes the sport more affordable for
growing families. There is also new stuff from ski shops available.
Would you send this out to the running e-group?
Thanks.
Tim

The mud & rain made this event an experience.
The finish line got so bad that it had to be moved. We actually had a
couple of piles of people as it was very difficult to stop.

TCRC handled the finish line and everyone did great. It never stopped
raining so this was no small accomplishment. The organizer thanked us.
We handled approx 900 runners.

Thanks to Ann Reichert, Barb Morrissey, Tom Morrissey. Kelley Hamlin,
Skip Hamlin, Vince Kelley, Randy Reynolds, Chris Cowden, Vince Fox,
Dan Dougherty, Chuck Barney, Mike Zwick, Scott Vasisko, Karen Feenee.
Lex Hamlin & Jeanne Johnson. It definately was a good group and the
harder it rained, the more the laughter. Boy, are we silly or what.

Dear Tom,

Hope the running season has been great thus far! I am hoping that you
are willing to put a link to my running-related baby clothing company,
www.sportingbaby.com , on your club's website.

As a local New York company, we are reaching out to the running
community in an effort to form lasting partnerships.

My love of running as well as parenthood has shaped the inspiration
behind Sporting Baby. We are still very much in our infancy and hope
that our clothing will grow along with our children!

Please feel free to write back and comment. My URL for your reference
is www.sportingbaby.com.

On a final note, I'm open to any and all suggestions, and would have an
interest in getting coupons into race packets or my apparel into stores
should you be connected to either of these options.

My most sincere thanks,

Hey everyone - This is Kelley Hamlin

Got any old ties hanging around in your closet that you are just
looking for a reason to get rid of?? Give them to me, my Dad (Tom
Hamlin) or contact Katie directly! It's getting cold out there... and
your old ties might just be a life saver to someone in need this
winter. And for those of you that are saying "Why is she sending this
to me... I don't have any ties!"... forward this to someone who
does... :)

Thanks!
Kelley

October 13, 2008
Hello Everyone!

Last year we collected over 200 ties which helped make 100 sleeping
bags. Let's do it again.

Do you have old ties in your closet that you would like to get rid of?
  Well here is your chance.

We are collecting old ties now through October 29th. A group of
ladies in Dryden, called "My Brother's Keeper" makes sleeping bags for
the homeless. They use the ties to tie up the sleeping bag. This
group of ladies gets together every Friday morning from September to
the end of April and make sleeping bags. They have made over 2000
sleeping bags for the homeless.

If you would like to give the gift of warmth to a homeless person,
clean out your closets, get your church involved, get your work place
involved. There are a lot of old ties collecting dust in closets all
over Broome County. Let's give those ties new life and a homeless
person a little warmth.

Spread the word! Feel free to forward this email to all your family
and friends.
Once you have collected the ties, please call me for a pick up or drop
off time (607) 238-0322.
Sincerely,

Katie Legg

It has been confirmed the STAC Meet is 11:00am on Oct 25, 2008.

George Joseph is working another race so he won't be available. and he
needs a couple of volunteers as well.

The STAC Meet has more than one race at a time so we will need at
least 2 teams.

We are asking for volunteers? We are thinking we need 12 volunteers.

Here's something that runners might enjoy:

Support this benefit for the Glen: Attend the Walkin' Jim Stoltz Concert,
October 10

One of America's most unique folksingers and backcountry travelers, Walkin'
Jim Stoltz, on tour from the mountains of Montana, will bring his powerful
multi-media show, Forever Wild, to the Central United Methodist Church, 17
Nanticoke Ave, Endicott, NY on October 10, 2008 at 7:30 PM. The mix of stunning
photography, stories, and music make this one-of-a-kind concert an inspiring
journey into our nation's last wilderness areas.

Walkin' Jim gets his name from over 26,000 miles he has walked through the
wild country of North America. Carrying a guitar and writing his songs along
the way, his lyrics express a great love and respect for the Earth and the wild
places he knows so well. Known for his powerful baritone and emotion-packed
vocals, Stoltz's Forever Wild show is much more than a concert. It combines live
music and poetry with stunning, multi-image slides to create a stirring
celebration of the natural world. Stoltz is veteran of more than 30 years of
performing. In this year's show he will be sharing images and songs from the
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, his Yellowstone to Yukon walk, the Utah canyon
country, the Northern Rockies, and wild places all across America.

Walkin' Jim has toured extensively throughout the U.S. for the past 21
years. In 2006 he organized a 45 state outreach tour with other musicians and
authors, and worked with hundreds of community organizations to gain support for
clean water, roadless lands, and wildlife. Jim has been presented with the
Environmental Protection Agency's, Outstanding Achievement Award for his sharing
of nature and wilderness across America. Stoltz will have copies of his recent
book "Walking With the Wild Wind" to sign at the event. His songs from 9
different CDs get regular airplay on National Public Radio and will also be
available. Visit his website at www.walkinjim.com

Advance tickets for the concert will be available at Eureka!, Conklin Rd,
Binghamton; Wild Birds Unlimited, 800 Valley Plaza, Johnson City; or by charging
by phone at the Waterman Center for $10 adult, $5 children 12 or under or $25
family. The price at the door is $12.00 adult, $6.00 children, and $30.00
family. This event is sponsored by the Susquehanna Group Sierra Club and the
Waterman Conservation Education Center and is a fundraiser for the IBM Glen - an
Educational Preserve of the Waterman Center. For more information call Julian
Shepherd at 722-9327. Directions to the Church: From Route 17, go N on NY 26
to Endicott, go W on Main, N on Nanticoke. Map at www.centralumcendicott.org

Hi, Tom!

So far we have no TCRC individuals or teams registered to compete in the
USA Masters 5 km National Championship at the Syracuse Festival of
Races.

Have you heard anyone down there discussing putting together a TCRC team
in any of the age groups? All entries are visible online at
www.usatf.org, so the strategists can take a look and see where the easy
National Championship medals are waiting to be had.

Hope all is well with you!

If you are looking for Grand Prix credit for the track meet events,
all you have left is tonight at 6:00pm and next Weds. Summer is gone
(or was it even here at all) Hope to see you at the Maine-Endwell track.

Suzi, can you send to listserv as well? Thanks

Just a reminder to everyone that the Chris Thater 5K is this Sunday at
9:30am at Recreation Park in Binghamton. We have a world class field
once again, with runners coming from Boulder, CO, Chapel Hill, NC,
Ontario, Canada and all spots in between. We have race day
registration, with registration starting at 8:00am. Come on down and
join us for the 25th Annual Chris Thater 5K.

I also need some volunteers to help with pre-registration, in the
finish line and mile splits. Let me know in the next couple of days so
I can plan accordingly. Thanks so much.

   Grace
