If you shop in person, you get 10% off if you mention you are in the TCRC.
They also have a punch card. I think if you spend $300.00 you get a FREE pair
of shoes.

It is very a long list.
Also, it is written in such a way that you have to have someone explain them
because every street/road is not listed.
Maybe we could work something out and I could explain some of the routes.
They all start on the track (at the bottom of the stairs that are close to the
locker rooms). They finish there also.
During the season, we open the gates. Other times, kids just run along the
bleachers (in between the fence and bleachers) out onto the roads.
There are courses all over Endwell- flat, hilly, from 2.42 to 15 miles.
Could I email a few at a time and have you copy them that way?
It would be great to see running groups meet there and use the courses.
I suppose you could start at the top of the stairs in the parking lot, it
wouldn't make that much of a difference. Also, many of them finish across that
field (like the Matzke Race) and up that steep bank.
They also have records. Some held by the Girards and Fiona Cundy, as well as
some very fast high school boys.
Just to begin- some of my favorites are:
Farm-to-Market- Struble- Robinson Hill- Country Club- Hooper. It is 4.65 miles
Farm-to-Market- Sally Piper- Case- Robinson Hill- Struble- F-to-M is 5.49
F-to-M- Higby- Sally Piper- F-to-M is 5.35 (this is many kid's favorite).
The classic course is F-to-M- Higby- Town Line- Case- Rob Hill- Struble 7.38
(Town Line is a killer!)
F-to-M- Hillside- Twist Run- F-toM is 3.81
Many others go into Endwell and are a little flatter.
We have names for many of them- maybe after a runner from M-E- Cliff Bills,
Monica, or just one street name- Higby or some weird name- Dabolina (that is the
Pete Matzke course without the laps on the track and it is 2.42 miles). It is a
long story how it came to be called Dabolina.
Most kids at M-E get to know them by their "nickname" and I just have to say,
"You're doing E&T or Town Line today." And they know where to go!

2006 Roads Scholar's Application Opens
Contact: Jean Knaack, execdir@...
Columbia, MD - Since 1996, the Road Runners Club of America has awarded stipends
through its Roads Scholar program to assist American post-collegiate, road
runners who show great promise to develop into national and world class road
running athletes. The RRCA is now accepting applications for our 2006-2007 Roads
Scholar Class. The application can be found on at
http://www.rrca.org/programs/programs.html#ROADS . The deadline for applying is
March 31, 2006.
Over the last ten years, the Roads Scholar program has distributed over $160,000
to emerging American distance runners. Grants in the amount of $5,000.00 per
year have been awarded to four to six athletes annually since the program's
inception. The driving factor in the creation of this program was the goal of
improving the state of long distance running in the United States. A sign of the
program's success were the results of the 2004 Summer Olympics where Deena
Kastor, a 1997 Roads Scholar grant recipient, captured the bronze medal in the
woman's Olympic marathon. Kastor became the first American in 11 years to win a
major marathon after placing first at the 2005 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon.
Kastor also serves on the Roads Scholar selection committee.
The program is directed towards runners who:
.Are US citizens
.Have graduated from college (or whose class has graduated)
.Plan to race in top open road race events (not just track, cross country or
US-only events)
.Expect to earn less than $30,000 from all sources during the calendar year
If you would like to make a contribution to the Roads Scholar program, send a
check payable to the RRCA and mail c/o Jeff Darman, 110 East State Street, Suite
15, Kennett Square, PA 19348. If you prefer to contribute on-line, please use
the following link to make your contribution http://www.signmeup.com/52614.
In addition to individual donors, the program has received generous financial
support over the years from the Credit Union Cherry Blossom, the Atlanta Track
Club Lilac Bloomsday Association, Team FootWorks, Huntsville Track Club, the
Cotton Row Run, Knoxville Track Club, and Houston Masters Sports Association.

I live in Apalachin and I run close to home. Long Creek Road is my favorite
Very rural, no traffic, some hills if you want and some flat. I vary the
distance depending on how far I want to run, usually 3-5 miles. I also like to
start at the Mobil station on the corner of 434 and Cross Street. Running either
way along Main street in Apalachin and going through the village on the side
roads. There are some good hills if you want to do some hill work. Not much
traffic and some shady areas if it's sunny. It's great for biking, too.

Alan:
I am only one voice, but I am a member of several e-groups. I think for
most members, it is just a matter of stumbling a couple of times to
learn how the system works. Then I think everyone would embrace the
automatic reply to all. (i.e. Once you know the coffee table is there,
you walk around it to avoid future shin pain.)
I think the idea of an e-group is to encourage the free flow of ideas
and information; kind of like an electronic meeting. In a real meeting,
side conversations are discouraged because they diminish the
effectiveness of the meeting. People would still be able to edit the
"To:" field in their e-mail editor if they wanted to start a side
conversation with the previous poster.
On the lighter side, sometimes, the most interesting and popular posts
are the ones mistakenly sent to all. In fact, if you ever want everyone
to read a previous post, just send a new post apologizing for mistakenly
sending the last one to all. Human nature takes over and the previous
post is suddenly pored over by all!
People are getting savvier about this stuff all the time. I think the
adjustment period would be a short one. I am more in favor of the
automatic reply to all, but either way works for me. Maybe others have
opinions. The e-group also allows you to take polls. This might be a
good subject to try the poll feature out on or maybe some other issue
that comes up in the future.
By the way, thanks for setting this up. It is a terrific communication
tool to have.

At Marsha's request, I have changed the settings on the TCRC Group.
Kevin and I had decided to have it so that a reply went to everyone
which is often what people want. However, often folks don't realize
that their reply is going to the entire group. It's turned off now.
If you have an opinion on this, let us know.

The USAT&F certification of the Dick's 5K, the Chris Thater 5K, and
the TCRC Women's 5K have been renewed. All three certifications will
expire on December 31, 2011. At that time the courses must be
