Please email me your favorite running routes, including approximate
miles, in and around the triple cities for inclusion in the next
newsletter. Also if anyone has the list of running routes used by the
ME Cross Country team can you email me that list? Thanks and enjoy
the rest of the weekend- Susan

Alan:
I am only one voice, but I am a member of several e-groups. I think for
most members, it is just a matter of stumbling a couple of times to
learn how the system works. Then I think everyone would embrace the
automatic reply to all. (i.e. Once you know the coffee table is there,
you walk around it to avoid future shin pain.)
I think the idea of an e-group is to encourage the free flow of ideas
and information; kind of like an electronic meeting. In a real meeting,
side conversations are discouraged because they diminish the
effectiveness of the meeting. People would still be able to edit the
"To:" field in their e-mail editor if they wanted to start a side
conversation with the previous poster.
On the lighter side, sometimes, the most interesting and popular posts
are the ones mistakenly sent to all. In fact, if you ever want everyone
to read a previous post, just send a new post apologizing for mistakenly
sending the last one to all. Human nature takes over and the previous
post is suddenly pored over by all!
People are getting savvier about this stuff all the time. I think the
adjustment period would be a short one. I am more in favor of the
automatic reply to all, but either way works for me. Maybe others have
opinions. The e-group also allows you to take polls. This might be a
good subject to try the poll feature out on or maybe some other issue
that comes up in the future.
By the way, thanks for setting this up. It is a terrific communication
tool to have.

Subject: [triplecitiesrunnersclub] Change to only reply to sender
At Marsha's request, I have changed the settings on the TCRC Group.
Kevin and I had decided to have it so that a reply went to everyone
which is often what people want. However, often folks don't realize
that their reply is going to the entire group. It's turned off now.
If you have an opinion on this, let us know.

The USAT&F certification of the Dick's 5K, the Chris Thater 5K, and
the TCRC Women's 5K have been renewed. All three certifications will
expire on December 31, 2011. At that time the courses must be
re-measured.
