RE: [trigirls] Beginner with no clue but the desire for change.

Hi Colleen

Dawn responded to what I would recommend as well.  I was wondering what type of seat you had now?  Lots of people just use the seat that comes with their bike, unless it’s totally uncomfortable (and your bottom will be a bit sore at the beginning, no matter what kind of saddle you use, it’s just a matter of getting used to riding and maybe investing in a padded bike short.)  Congrats on Harvest Harrier…that’s a tough 5k, especially for your 1st ! Happy training, hope to meet you at a MMTC event soon!

Maura

Good Morning ladies, the earth welcomes you.

My name is Colleen and i just turned 36 yesterday and in an effort to
make "CHANGE" I signed up for the Iron Girl Triathlon next August.
OMG!

I ran my first ever 5K last month the Harvest Harrier which I thought
was killer (but very exciting and rewarding) and I have some idea of
a
running program ( i do have a good pair of running shoes) and maybe
even a
swimming program (still need a swim suit but that shouldnt be hard to
find) if I can find the willingness
to JUST DO IT. My question is this - I have a bike (heavy
mountain/road
bike)which was so kindly given to me. I realize its not the best or
perfect tri bike but its all I have and its what I intend to use or
at
least train with. I need a seat. And Im anticipating needing to learn
how to change tires. All that maintenance stuff that comes with
riding.
Could someone suggest a store or offer some advise about where to go
and what kind of seat to purchase. I dont want to spend a lot of
money.
I'm not so much about looking the part as I am just having what I
need
to get me through training and complete the tri. Just trying to
complete a personal goal not win a gold medal. I live in Laurel just
to
give you an idea of where I am.

I appreciate any feedback at all.
Thanks for letting me be a part of..........~Colleen.
