Hello All! Our delta team is just over one week away from down to Guatemala and we are all very excited to see what God has in store for us there! We are still about $200 shy of our goal to cover costs of gifts, lunch and transportation for the kids we will be meeting there. (Thank you Tara for your generous gift!) Please take the time to go to the website and make a small donation to Austin Tri4Him team. Also, please keep praying for us all and the children as we prepare to travel. Please ask Him to prepare our hearts and the children's for what He desires to take place there. Thanks Ya'll and hope to see you on Sunday!
This is a great place to run if you can make it. I'll be in corpus for father's
day so I will have to make the next one. In Him!

Subject: [tri4him_austin] Sunday Morning tri4Him run
All, we had a great run this morning at Brushy Creek Park. Joe Ritz, Joe Haus
and I ran this morning at 7:00. I will be out of town next weekend (not sure if
Joe Ritz will be running or not), but I am planning to have the same run every
Sunday morning. We could even move it a little earlier if that would help
everyone else.
Also, I am still planning on putting together a weeknight open water swim, but I
am still thinking about the location.
Greg
Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to give you a heads up that we are planning a pool party on June 22nd after the Pfugerville triathlon for current members and perspective members, so save the date.
Now the main reason I am sending this is to call on you all to support your team members going down to Guatemala. As you know, 4 of us - Time, Joe, Alvaro, and myself, are going to Guatemala to race and raise support for scholarships for the children of Guatemala. We will be spending several hours with 19 of the kids on Saturday before the race and plan to provide them with a meal as well as some small gifts including a Tri4Him t-shirt, a cross necklace, a hacky sack with a cross on it, and a spanish Bible. Thanks to Greg and his church, the Bibles have been donated! Yeah!
The dinner and the rest of the gifts for all 19 kids will cost about $350.
I want to see this extra cost covered by donations from our Austin Team members. (Of course if we raise more, that is fantastic!) (We are each financing our own trip which is coming up to about $1100 each.)
On the donation page http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.336970/it.A/id.37/.f , you will be asked which team member your are supporting. There is one labeled "Austin Tri4Him Team". Please make your donations for this under that heading so we know that these costs will be covered.
Please support your team in this way as well as in prayer! We really hope we will be able to minister to these kids and bring glory to our Lord! Thanks guys!
All, we had a great run this
morning at Brushy Creek Park. Joe Ritz, Joe Haus and I ran this morning at
7:00. I will be out of town next weekend (not sure if Joe Ritz will be running
or not), but I am planning to have the same run every Sunday morning. We could
even move it a little earlier if that would help everyone else.
Also, I am still planning on
putting together a weeknight open water swim, but I am still thinking about the
location.
Hi Friends, I wanted to make sure everyone on the team knew what was going on and give everyone the oppportunity to support your teammates! Joe, Tim, Alvaro and I are all heading to Guatemala at the end of June! So excited!
In the US, it is a given that our children will finish high school and beyond before having to enter the workforce or contribute to their family income. For most of the children in Guatemala, this is only a dream. The majority of children there enters the workforce full time at the age of 12 and do not ever have the chance to start, much less complete a high school education. We are truly a blessed and wealthy nation!
ProPeten (www.propeten.org/pg027.html) of Guatemala is a local organization that realizes that education is the key to the success and future of their nation and has started a scholarship program, allowing children to complete secondary school and beyond. The triathletes of Tri4Him want to help!Four of us are actually going to race this June in the jungles of Guatemala! Our purpose is to raise funds and awareness for underprivileged children of Guatemala.I can’t tell you how excited I am! (I have never ended a race in front of a Mayan ruin before!)
We want your help! For a mere $100 per year, a student can continue their education and become a vital part of the future of their country and our world. Each Tri4Him athlete has committed to raise a minimum of $500.This money will allow a Guatemalan child to extend their education 5 years and complete their secondary school. The more we raise, the more children will have the opportunities of education we take for granted. We are covering our own costs for the trip, so 100% of your tax deductible donations will go directly to the children of Guatemala.
In addition to competing in the 2008 Hombre Maya triathlon, we will have an opportunity to travel to a local village and meet some of the children benefiting from your generosity. I will definitely update you when I get back! By supporting me and the activities of the ProPeten, you can help give an underprivileged student hope for a better future. You will truly change their lives!

Stolen: 2008 Cervelo P-3 from the transition area at Cap Tex Tri in
Austin, May 24
Please be on the lookout for my nearly new 2008 Cervelo P-3C that
was stolen from the transition area at Cap Tex Tri on May 25th. It
was located in the plus 50 area for the Olympic Tri and was the
first bike on the aisle a few rows down from the Elite wave.
A bag was stolen from the next row from a friend who had to have his
wife bring spare keys from Houston. There was a section of fence
along the river trail that had been opened for some sort of
maintenance after the swim was finished. Volunteers were checking
numbers at the front gate but the transition area was so large that
they couldn't see the entire area. 1700 bikes had originally been in
the Olympic transition and several hundred were left at the time I
returned to get my gear.
My shoes that had been clipped in the pedals had been removed and
were on the opposite side of the rack. The transition was completely
emptied by the time the police arrived.
The bike was new in March and worked perfectly in its only two
races, Ironman Arizona on April 13th and Cap Tex Olympic on May 25.
2008 Cervelo P3 size 56, red black white, All Three Sports sticker
on back of seat tube, My name on both sides of the top tube but
probably removed by now. SN SWP3C02M00141
Seat: Fizik Arione Tri with braided carbon rails, modified center
cutout on bottom (really comfortable), seat attachment hardware
modified with a grinder to fit larger rails, seat post also has an
extra hole drilled for a rear bottle carrier attachment experiment
Seat mounting bolts replaced with titanium bolt and titanium brake

Zero gravity brakes with yellow pads, Nokon cables

Zipp 808 dimpled front, no stickers, Vittoria crono evo tubular-21

Saturday I am riding the Austin Cycling Association (ACA) ride called
Joppa Jaunt. It starts at 8:00 am, here are the instructions:
Meet at Liberty Hill Elementary School on Loop 332, just west of
downtown Liberty Hill. These 25- and 50-mile intermediate level rides
follow quiet back roads over the picturesque Jollyville Plateau with a
few moderate hills. Pedal through places like Joppa, Oatmeal, Mahomet
and Bertram. Mick 512/418-9825.
Sunday morning at 7:00am, I am running at Brushy Creek Park, near the
corner of Parmer Lane and Brushy Creek Road in Cedar Park. I plan on
running 1.5 hours. The park has a nice trail, I think there are loops
of 1,3,5 and 7 miles. This is my weekly Sunday run, I will be in San
Antonio the weekend of June 7 so I will not be there, but this will be
a consistent weekly run.
If anyone wants to join me, please let me know.
I would also like to put together a weekly open water swim. If anyone
has any ideas on a good place, please let me know.

Hi All,
I am new to the group and just recently joined Tri4Him.
I would love to help today and do dinner but I have previous
commitments this evening as I have a graduating High School Senior.
I plan to swing by this afternoon when I bring my bike down to meet folks.
Regards,
Carey Benge

I might be able to help from 4:30 to 6:30 after my packet pick-up. I'm swimming on a relay team and waiting to see when the other two want to do packet pick-up. I'll keep you posted!

Hi ya'll I just got a notice in change of schedule of the expo and confirmed it on line. The expo is now from 1p-8p. This changes things around quite a bit, including plans for dinner after.
Do you think dinner at 8p is too late?
Here is what I have so far if we can just shift everyone down
12:30-2:-30 Amy and Gayle 2:30-4:30 Barrett and Natasha 4:30-6:30 Alvaro?? and ?? 6:30-8+ clean up- Tim and Greg

Hello friends, Here are the notes from our meeting last night for those who couldn't make it. Take a break, it's a bit long.
Our most immediate concern is that we need volunteers for the Cap Tex Expo for our booth. This is a big way we get new members and get the word out, so its important that we have people at the booth. You don't need to be a long time member to volunteer! There are 8 two hour slots that need to be filled. If you will be around that weekend (Saturday, May 24th) and would like to help us out, PLEASE indicate which slot you would like to work at. (You can type your name in a time and hit reply all, so everyone knows which slots are full.)

The same day at 6:30p we will have a dinner at Aussies Bar and Grill next to the expo with the athletes and families from Dallas. Families are welcome! Please come on by and if you can, let me know ahead of time so that I can make sure Aussies has a table set up for us.
Look for our new tent at the Cap Tex Tri Expo and the race! We plan to have it set up at the booth and at the race where friends and teammates can congregate. (Jeff has given us this tent, but would love contributions (tax deductible) to help pay for it. Go to tri4him.org to contribute!)
If you haven't yet, PLEASE go to tri4him.org and renew or initiate your membership of the official tri4Him team. There is a $25 annual fee that helps pay for things, like dinners, expos, etc throughout the year. Some of this money directly helps our Austin chapter as well. We'll give you a cool tri4Him sticker for your car at the next meeting if you do! Mine is on my care already!
T-shirts! We have new cool t-shirts- kids and women sizes too! They are $10 with a promise to renew your memberships until the Cap Tex weekend. After that they are going to Dallas and only available on line for $16. So get them while they're hot!!
We are planning on meeting every 3rd Tuesday of the month, April through September starting at 6 PM (5/20, 6/17, 7/15, 8/19, 9/16) for Pure Austin's Splash and Dash summer series at the Quarry Lake next to North Austin's Pure Austin. It is a 750 m swim in the lake and a 3k run. Bring your own gear- wet suit, running shoes, goggles, swim cap, etc. I think the cost is $10. We will try and have our meeting afterward some of these races if enough people can show up for Tuesdays. There is more info on the race at jackandadams.com
Greg and Joe are committing to ride every sat. morning. This will most likely be up north. They will send out details.
I swim every Monday at about 5:30 at Stacey pool or Barton Springs. If you would like to join me, let me know and we'll coordinate.
Guatemala trip- Four members are racing in Flores, Guatemala on June 29th to help raise funds for scholarships for needy children in that area. 1. If you want to join us, let us know ASAP. 2. If you know of any friends and family that would be interested in contributing, let us know and we'll send the info to them or you can contact them for us! 3. Support us! Support us in prayer as we prepare for the race, for the children we are helping and for the traveling and race itself. AND support us financially! Go to tri4him.org and there is a link set up to contribute to our trip.- And its tax deductible!
I went ahead and attached some info on to this email to let ya'll know more!
Below are some of the triathlons this season that our members are racing in. We will try and have the tri4him tent for members to congregate under at the local races our team members are participating in.
