Hey, This is from one of the new members. I thought I would forward it on to remind us what being on tri4him team can mean! Happy training! Amy

Thank you Jennifer for the pictures. Ya done good by us.
Just so you know, the picture labeled "Doug Bike 2" is not me. So, somebody out there has an extra picture. :-)
Congrats to Joey and Michael for "Hanging in There!" I remember my first Tri at Marble Falls last year when I had a flat before the race and then another halfway through the bike leg. You can really feel alone when sidelined like that. Quite discouraging at the time, but these things sure help build character, patience, perseverance and a greater reliance on God. As this was my first race in a Tri4Him uniform (I joined at the booth on Sunday), I didn't feel alone. At the end of my first bike lap my rear wheel locked up and I flipped over right onto the timing matt (ouch). Thank the Lord for small miracles--at least I didn't hit the asphalt. As I dragged my bike over to the side and worked on it, I could sense the prayers of my brothers and sisters who may have passed by at the time. I didn't get that feeling back in Marble Falls and it sure felt reassuring that at CapTexTri I was not alone. For a split second I thought to myself "Well, here is my excuse to quit," but I just couldn't give up and quickly dismissed the thought. I managed to get the wheel remounted properly and headed out again. Funny how much faster my second and third laps were without a tire rubbing against the frame. :-p. At any rate, I did flat on the 4th lap and was sidelined once more to change the tube. Again, I did not feel alone and appreciated the prayers by anyone who saw the uniform as they whizzed by. After that, it was just a matter of contending with the heat during the run. Yet the heat paled in comparison to the warmth I felt from being part of such a great team. :-)
I thank you all for making this my most enjoyable and memorable Tri ever, troubles not withstanding. Though I normally cannot stand bike and run routes that loop, meeting up with so many Tri4Him uniforms heading in the other direction was uplifting. Giving and receiving so much encouragement made me feel like I'd been to church. Being a member of Tri4Him made all the difference in the world. It was a great feeling to not be so focused on myself, this time, but looking for brothers and sisters along the way to share the "go team" spirit. You guys are ALL awesome! It also meant a lot to be able to, not only complete another Tri, but to be a witness for Jesus during the whole race.
On a side note, I'm sure that everyone knows that Jamie Cleveland won first place overall. What you may not know is what happened to his wife, Andrea Fisher and why her name is conspicuously missing form the Elite finishers list. Unfortunately, she did not finish the race. While in the women's lead on the bike leg, her front sprocket caught some road debris that broke her front derailer beyond roadside repair, so she did not finish the race. For some, I guess simply finishing is not enough of a challenge (or incentive) to keep going. So Michael, "You go Dude!" (James 1:12).
To all my newly found brothers and sisters on the God Squad, "Thank you and God bless you all." I look forward to seeing you at the next Tri as we do it 4Him.
Peace and Joy...
Doug Edwards

She tried to get as many of us as she could...those who she could recognize by the uniform. With all the new faces, it was hard to get everyone...especially since we were all going so fast.Preliminary booth report: We ended up with 61 people who stopped by the booth and signed up for the newsletter and more information about Tri4Him. (27 Austin area; 7 Houston; 7 DFW) I heard several spectators during the race shouting "Go, Tri4Him!" I know that we had a very positive impact on the race. Next year will be even better! Thanks Bobby, Scott, Amy, Karen, Tim, Tim, Michael, and Joe for helping to staff the booth. It was great to get to visit a little in between visitors. And thanks to Brent for designing the awesome fliers.Amy, I don't have an email address for Bobby or Scott or Tim #2. Will you please forward this email? I'll forward the Austin-area contacts to you as soon as I can.Congratulations to everyone on a great race! (Especially to Joey and Michael who both flatted and still finished. Joey rode the last two laps on a flat rear tubular. Michael walked his bike in from the last turnaround--about a mile. What perseverance!...and to Joe who completed his first tri! Well done.)In Him,Jeff______________________________________________________
