Rogue is also doing some open water swims w/ the option to pay for clinics at Mansfield Dam.  I believe it's $25 to swim 750 m or 1 mile and $25 for the clinic or $45 for both...something like that.  The first clinic is this Saturday and the next one if June 2nd.  I've heard that the folks doing the clinic are Olympic swimmers and that they should be good quality clinics, if anyone is interested.  I thought about going to do one of the swims this Saturday, but I might come out and bike instead with everyone.
 
 
I think that Austin Triathletes has a group that swims at Mansfield Dam most Monday nights, but I'm not sure.  And, Pure Austin is doing a women's only open water swim & swim clinic the Saturday before CapTex (May 26th?) for $10 at Quarry Lake.  That's pretty cheap, but it's awfully close to CapTex.
 
Sorry, I haven't been to any of the meetings...I've been working in Ohio during the week for the last 3 months.  I do plan to do the Texas Tri Series races...starting with The Rookie next week.

Hey Amy – I met you last year at the Cap-Tex race packet pick up location.  My wife is doing the beginner’s Cap-Tex for the first time this year and I wanted to see if anyone was doing some open swim practices.  Would you mind asking around and let me know so she can hook up with them for some training?

Mansfield Dam Park on Lake Travis

Austin Triathletes present three USAT Sanctioned (Sanction Number pending) open water swimming events:

  • 1 mile competitve event
  • 5k competitive event
  • 800 meter non-competitive swim - The 800 meter swim is designed for beginner open water swimmers and triathletes and is held in a protected cove closed to boat traffic.

All events will use Champion Chip™ timing. This is a USAT Sanctioned Event (Sanction Number pending) and all participants must bring their current USAT membership cards to packet pickup or buy a one day USAT membership at packet pickup.
