Plenty of new forks have the option of cantilever mounting points. You'll normally have to specify them though, as most folks are using discs these days and...

The '97 Y-22 came with V-brakes, not Cantilever... Even the new Rock Shox Reba's can be bought with V-Brake Posts. I have 2006 Reba Team 100mm Forks on my '97...

Yes, it would be. However, I don't think any of the Y bikes were ever supplied as new with the old style cantis, so it's most likely V-style cantilever brakes...
