The URT from the same source is $500 (it's gold alloy one, of the later round style 1998-1999),but that's the easy bit...get them off Ebay for a fraction of...

The more I think of it, the more attractive a bearing system would be (like on the Boulton URT) as opposed to a bushing--if it's possible to do on the stock Y...

I found that front shifting was not crisp with a 9spd set-up until I changed the front derailleur to 9spd from the stock Deore LX 8spd one....
