Re: [trekybikes] old steel trek y-bike

As far as I know the full suspension bike prior to the
OCLV & aluminium models was the ST100. It's mainframe
resembles that of a normal rigid frame design. I have
seen a few turn up on Ebay. My understanding of the Y
bike history is this:

1995: OCLV models released Y33, Y22, Y11 with
cantilever brakes.
1996: V brakes now fitted.
1997: Replaceable rear deraileur hanger on URT. Y50
released. Alloy 6061 Y models released: Y5, Y3, Y1. Y5
fitted with alloy URT, Y3 &Y1 fitted with Chromoly
URT.
1998: OCLV frame design changed for stronger shock
mount. URT now using oval section tubing. Y Superlite
models YSL200 released to replace the Y50.
1999: URT now incorporates disc brake mount. YSL300
released. Last year of OCLV models.
2000: Y1 and Y3 survive with this being the Y3's last
year.
2001: Last year of Y1 with low quality components now
fitted.
2002: The Y bike is now dead except for the low
quality Y26 which is still current.

This is what I've pieced together from bits of
information I've found over the last year or so...any
corrections of further info would be gratefully
received.
