Hi Mike,
Nice ride, hope you enjoy it.......
like I said, about the bushing, might not be a good idea to touch
it......lets just say, if there's a wobble in the back, its too late,
if not, don't fix what works :)
As for the upgrades, work on ride first, change the seat, bars n
stem....just get it to feel first, then go hog wild on the upgrades.
Pretty much on my Y-5, I changed so many things on it, even created a
new Y-line........its officially called the Y-not :)
First, changed the forks to a 97 Marzocchi Bomber Z2 (A hand me down
from my last 5 frames I ruined), while I had the front end open, I put
my Raceface headset on too (once again passed on from 5 frames). Then
I built some new strong wheels.......front is a Bontrager rim (forgot
the name Maverick I think, laced to an XT 738 hub with DT 3 butt
spokes). Rear bontrager ASYM rim laced to a XTR hub using 3 butt
spokes. XTR 8sp rear casette, XTR V-Brakes, XTR levers, shifters,
Raceface BB, Original cranks (I know I know) Bontager crowbar TI riser
bar, and some norco branded stumpy DH stem.....
As I said, sky's the limit (and having worked at a bike store as a
mechanic, got wholesale pricing on all the kit) So I still managed to
do it all in a budget........Next things to come is a disc brake for
the front.......probably a Hayes, or Hope 4 piston hydro special, the
crankset, and of course, the rear shock has to get changed......Goinna
see what I can pick up here in europe before I come back to
canada.....prolly gonna get the brakes here :)
Cheers,
Marty
