Interesting as my Y5 has 1997 Manitou front shocks and
it's a completely original bike. To my knowledge the
alloy Y frames came in out in 1997 and lasted until
2001 with the Y1 and Y3 only in production, and by
then being fitted with cheap components. The Y5 was
always the top of the range in the alloy bikes...it
has the alloy rear triangle which the Y1 and Y3 don't.
Noticeable difference in weight. You won't find a dual
suspsension alloy bike lighter than the Y5.
