Rear Shocks? What has everybody tried?   Message List

Not really happy with the adjustability of the original Stratos Pro
that came on my '97 Y-33.

Also it makes a sucking sound these days, probably blown seal mixing
air and oil.

It functions, but the only way to get acceptatble compliance over
bumps is with low air pressure (130psi) and fast rebound, which
results in alot of sag for my weight of 170lbs, and alot of bend in
my knees (6'2").

What has everybody else tried?

I'm thinking a Rock Shox MC 3.R (+Air, motion control, bar lockout,
rebound, compression I think)

Or the dual air Rock Shox SID (+air and -air, with rebound), but I
want to keep the bar lockout.

Possibly might try the FOX RP3 with pro-pedal, lockout, and open
settings (air, rebound, and 3-way switch). My friend likes the pro-
pedal setting on his Specalized FSR XC Pro.

I bought a newer Stratos XC Pro (updated version of the one that came
on the Y-33), but I'm not sure it'll be good enough.

Anyone else found something that works well?
