Weight Gain

I just got a 2 yr old and he is too small to break yet weight wise. How much
grain should I feed daily and are suppliments the way to go? Dont believe in
artificial nutrients. I feed hay by the round bail and 2 lbs of oats a day now.
Up in Minesota, not ready for the pasture yet.
