I dont use Quest but 90% of what you hear about it is untrue rumors and internet fables. Its a perfectly safe womer except for the fact that it has a low LD (lethal dose) rating. IF you dose with quest at the proper amount of wormer per weight of the horse its safe. If you overdose with it it can be deadly. Many wormers, like safeguard, you would have to give a horse 50 tubes of wormer to even give them the trots, let alone kill them.
This time of year most of us are using ivermectin based products because of bots. Quest will kill bots. Safeguard will not. What other wormers are you using in your rotation? You need to be using one at least once a year that will kill tape worms..only quest and the combo wormers will do that. And spring and fall you should be using an ivermectin based wormer to kill bots.
I dont use quest, i prefer to use the newer combo wormers. But i believe it gets a rap far worse than it deserves.

Hi guys. I am cross-posting this to most of the lists that I'm on in an effort to get as much input as possible.I had read some disturbing things about the use of the Quest de-wormer in the past so I just decided to leave it out of my rotation. But, I've ordered my next round of de-wormer for my horses, which should have been Safeguard, and I instead received Quest. I'm trying to decide if I should send the Quest back to the company and go with the Safeguard that I originally ordered, or if I would be OK just giving them the Quest that I have received.Do any of you have any words of wisdom or advice on this for me?Thanks in advance!Peggy in OKLife is too short to wake up with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.
