I think you should have a equine dentist out to check his teeth first. Even though they may look ok to you, a good dentist would be able to do a good check. I'd check the saddle fit next. If you don't know how to do that there are plenty of websites that have the basics. Check the girth, the pad, everything, It may just be a bump in his training. Hes young and hasn't been under saddle that long, so even if hes been doing good all along til now.

... soundness. ... Thats what I felt as well but me,who is a trainer and another trainer cannot find anything oviously wrong,there are NO good vets anywhere ...
