well, on my fence it was one, so not sure if that was the case or not.

Drove me totally nuts. Iknow the fence was hot because i got the snot zapped out of me several times. She was just a witchy mare anyways.Thats odd, on my fence charger the light means its working and not grounded out lol>shrugs<Kris~----- Original Message -----From: tigggr1Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 7:10 PMTo: training-horses@yahoogroups.comSubject: Re: [training-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little wordsWell, be careful. My little Genius, or should I say Houdini! figured out that my wonderful husband didn't hook up our electric fence correctly. John (my hubby) comes in Sunday night and yells look at YOUR horse! I run to the window only to see Genius under the electric fence stretching it all out of whack and about half way out of the paddock. I RUN (5acres) out there yelling no, no, no! He gets whacked on the nose to get him back. I went back to the gate and shut off the fence and restretch it taught. I call a freind at the barn down the street that has helped me learn about horses and ask how to test the fence. She said if the light is blinking it has to be grounded out somewhere. So, I ! start ch ecking the fence to see where it is touching something. We find several issues and fix them all. Only way to check it, I touch it! OUCH! It is working. Better test both wires. Touch the other one, nothing! Mess around some more. Touch the top, OUCH! touch the bottom, nothing. John starts argueing with me about how it is hooked up when he is the goofball (hehe) that hooked it up! He keeps telling me that it has to be hooked up someway when it isn't. Finally, lightbulb, that's the problem. He hooked it up wrong clear back in Sept and Genius just figured out the bottom line is not hot. We get it all fixed, I touch again, OUCH, OUCH! Both are working. I'm not liking this! We go to dinner confident that the problem is solved I get up the next morning to feed. Go out and do my thing. It had snowed a ton and I decided to de-snow the fence for some reason. I never do this. Glad I did! I get to the point where he was trying to get out and not only is it stretched, the entire post is pulled up and all three could have gone anywhere they wanted. Thank god they like my barn! I get it all fixed and go up to look to see if the light is blinking, it is NOT! Sh*t! Now what. John didn't turn it back on after our final tweak of the turning the screws tighter and such. GEEZE! Well, after 24hrs of MY finishing the final tweaks, and all is well. Horses and men, can't live with or without! From: KRISTY M NASHSent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 8:55 PMSubject: Re:! [traini ng-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little wordsthats good(cept for him being ornery when your daughter is around)Yea, i need to get my turnouts fixed and put a run-in for him. that would be his dream lol. then id have a empty stall....HMMM:) JKKris~----- Original Message -----From: tigggr1Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 6:48 PMSubject: Re: [training-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little wordsGenius calmed way down, except when my daughter is around. He has been a little onery this week because I introduced another horse to him and his mother. So, everyone is a little spooky. Genius is outside 24/7 with a 12x30 run in shelter. That may help with the extra energy a little.----- Original Message -----From: KRISTY M NASHSent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 8:40 PMSubject: Re: [training-horses] M! ags abou t to hear 2 little wordsYea, Mag is just being a butt lol.He is about 9! 00lbs an d thats far to big to act like that. I dont think he realizes he is as big as he is either.I think if he was able to be outside more it would help..Yea i dont blame you for keeping yer 5yr old away from him.Is he still acting up? If Mag doesnt calm down after he is gelded..i will probably sell him this summer:(That would really make me sad, he is such a sweet guy(when his hormones arent kicked in) and he is just so cute!Kris~----- Original Message -----From: tigggr1Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 6:31 PMTo: training-horses@yahoogroups.comSubject: Re: [training-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little wordsunderstand the bug thing! I didn't turn my back to Genius when he was acting like that either. I didn't want to get trampled. He is really bad with my 5 year old. She isn't allowed out there without me. I really don't like her there at all when he is being onery.----- Original Message -----From: KRISTY M NASH< B>Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 8:16 PMSubject: Re: [training-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little wordsOh what isnt he doing? LOLNo.i just can tell that its time..I can see his total attitude changing towards me. He is more aggressive..likes to charge and challenge me..Its not just being silly anymore.Im not afraid him..but i dont turn my back to him either. He went from a real sweatheart to being very testy and giving alot of attitude in a matter of a few days..I want my gentle giant back:)Plus its a good time to get him gelded..before the bugs start hatching out!Kris~----- Original Message -----From: tigggr1Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 6:07 PMTo: training-horses@yahoogroups.comSubject: Re: [training-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little wordsWhat is he doing? I got Genius when he was about 6months old. Him and his mom are the only two I have ever had or been around. He would charge us and try to rear up. I know part of it was testing me and he was disciplined each time. I had him gelded after I had him 3 weeks and I was starting to be afraid of him and that was the last thing I wanted him! to thin k. I am not sure if he stopped charging and rearing because I gelded him or because I earned his respect or both. He still acts g! oofy som etimes like during the snow the other day he was very aggr! essive a nd I had to go get the whip. He behaved immediately. Funny, I have never actually hit him with it, but when I get it, he behaves immediately. :)----- Original Message -----From: KristySent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 7:25 PMSubject: [training-horses] Mags about to hear 2 little words
That will change his life forever!
Say it with me "snip snip"
He is just about 6-7 months old and is acting about 5 times worse
than Tom. Tom will be 2 in may(i know by the rules he is already
there lol) and isnt really studish acting at all. He is a
little "cocky" at times but that is more of a 2yr old thing than him
acting studdy. Heck Mindy is more cocky then he is lol
But Magnum is starting to really push my buttons and i think this
month he is going to be gelded.
I cant wait til i get all my fencing done..because im kicking him
outside. He hates being in his stall poor guy. If i had a turnout
with a shelter in it..id probably just leave him out.
Ok..thats all:)
