Hello Running Gals,

As you already know Luna Chix Trail Running team is a group of
non-competitive women runners from Marin, East Bay and San Francisco
who simply love to run. We want to share our excitement and encourage
women across all levels of running to get outside and run with us. We
also are committed to raise money and awareness for the Breast Cancer
Fund, whose tireless work to identify and advocate for the elimination
of the environmental causes of breast cancer is an inspiration.

Our athletic levels range from "fast" to "lets enjoy the race and
scenery" runners. With different careers, busy lives, families,
friends, and all the other activities imaginable, we savor our time
running together and exploring new trails around the Bay Area.

The 2008 will be our 4th season and we are looking to grow our team.
If you are interested in being considered please email Laurel our team
member at runwithluna@.... Joining the team is free and the
candidates that become part of our team are invited to participate in
an annual Luna Chix Summit held at the beginning of April. It is a
great way to develop lasting friendships, team bound through
activities and get exposed to LUNA Pro teams. If interested in
becoming a LUNA Chix team member please send us an email requesting an
application by February 20th or sooner.

Happy Trail Running,

Monika
monikamazur2000@...

P.S.
Our 2007 Season included biweekly training runs, monthly races,
events, and running clinics. See our 2007 calendar for more details:

Tennessee Valley has plenty of trails to choose from - over the hills,
along the beach, down through the valley. I propose we combine the
three - starting near the stables, winding up Old Springs Trail until
it comes to an end at Miwok, which winds down the hill (note: you DO
NOT want to run up this hill unless you are truly insane) and
eventually ends right at Rodeo Lagoon at Rodeo Beach. Instead of
going right down the road to the Rodeo Beach parking lot, we will head
left, along the lagoon, up the hill next to the beach, and eventually
winding up at the far end of the beach. This little stretch down the
sand is just glorious, and we are going to need a bit of bliss to
prepare for the mother of a hill that's to come. That would be
Coastal Trail, essentially straight up the mountain to Wolf Ridge
Trail, which will drop us off back on Miwok just after the junction
with Old Springs, which will take us back to the parking lot.

The whole thing will most likely take around 2hrs +, but this is going
to be first time running it for me so the timing might be a bit off.

Let me know if you have questions.
Thanks

Hi Traci,

I just added details about the Saturday run and moved the meeting time
to 8:30am, to get started a bit earlier with the run since it may get
warm. The meeting point is the parking lot at Tennesse Valley
(directions are posted)

Tennessee Valley has plenty of trails to choose from - over the hills,
along the beach, down through the valley. I propose we cobine the
three - starting near the stables, winding up Old Springs Trail until
it comes to an end at Miwok, which winds down the hill (note: you DO
NOT want to run up this hill unless you are truly insane) and
eventually ends right at Rodeo Lagoon at Rodeo Beach. Instead of
going right down the road to the Rodeo Beach parking lot, we will head
left, along the lagoon, up the hill next to the beach, and eventually
winding up at the far end of the beach.

Thanks
Monika

Every year LUNA hosts LUNAFEST, which is a film festival featuring
short movies directed by women filmmakers from around the world. "The
films are filled with stories of reflection and whimsy, hope and
humor, grace and perseverance, LUNAFEST films are renowned for
celebrating the talents and stories of women. LUNAFEST films include
many off the traditional "festival circuit." Collectively, LUNAFEST
films captivate audiences, compel dialogue and arm those who
participate with both the knowledge and the motivation to make a
difference in their communities. "

LUNAFEST's films have won industry awards and audience accolades, and
the films selected for 2007-08 LUNAFEST share this brilliance. From
quirky animation to touching documentaries, the 9 selected films are
incredibly diverse in both style and subject matter, united by a
common thread of exceptional storytelling by…for…about women.

HISTORY OF LUNAFEST

LUNAFEST was established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole
Nutrition Bar for Women, to simultaneously promote women filmmakers,
raise awareness for women's issues, and support worthy women's
nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

LUNAFEST is completely funded by LUNA and run by a small, dedicated
group of LUNA employees. 100 percent of all proceeds are donated to
charity – 15 percent to the Breast Cancer Fund and the remaining 85
percent of proceeds go directly back to hosting community organizations.

Over the years, as LUNAFEST has grown from a single annual event to
more than 100 festivals each season, LUNA's commitment to this
worthwhile program has grown as well. We are continually inspired by
the individual and collective efforts of women – and we are awed by
the results. To date, LUNAFEST has raised over $250,000 for worthwhile
women's organizations, while raising hope and awareness for the
stories of women everywhere.

Hi everyone,
I am a new member of this group, and the runs look great. But I've
noticed that most of them are on Saturdays, which is a work day for me.
I was wondering if there are ever any Sunday runs, or weekday evening
runs, or any interest in either of those?
Thanks,
Simone

Hi All,

I won't be able to make the run this weekend but was wondering if someone could post the shorter (4-6) mile option via a map or something. It sounds like this trail is beautiful.

thanks and I hope to run with you all soon,
Lynne Ouano

Hi Ladies,

Hope you're looking forward to this Saturday's run at Strawberry
Canyon. There will be a 8 mile option and shorter option (4-6 miles).
Whenever I'm down, this trail always restores my good spirits, with it
sweeping views of the bay, that are worth every inch of the uphill.

We'll carpool from my apartment, as parking is tight at the trailhead.
I live just a couple of miles from the trail.

Please arrive at 2226 Channing Way #1 in Berkeley to park by 8:40AM.
At this time of the day, there is typically parking on Atherton
Street, which runs between Haste and Channing, or nearby.

2226 Channing Way is 1.5 blocks east of Shattuck Avenue. Use google
maps or let me know if you have any questions about directions.

The carpool will leave promptly at 8:45AM. Please bring your own
water. We will bring LUNA bars for before or after the run.

If you can't find parking on Atherton, just pull up in front of my
apartment building in the bike lane, and we'll have you be a driver.

For day-of questions, you can reach me at (510) 914-8376. Please RSVP
to me if you plan to make it (or just show up!).

If you miss the carpool, you can drive to the trailhead. Directions
and map at: http://www.pacificstriders.org/data/maps.html

This will be my last run with LUNA Chix before I head to Colorado
later in the afternoon for my TransRockies Race! If you haven't heard
about it, check out:
www.breastcancerfund.org/ssyed for details.

See you Saturday,

Good Morning,

I'm new to your group; I'm looking for someone to trail run with a few
times a week. I'm just starting to run again, so I'm not fast, but I
run for an hour.

Thank you!
Laura

Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha!
