what i'm thinking is the races are sanctioned by the USATF then they pretty much are required by rules to state that headphones are banned for insurance reasons.  when was the last time you were around mile 12 of a marathon when pretty much most runners are running their own race and saw one run right into another one because of headphones?! LOL  this rule is crazy.  if people try to blame it on safety that is absolutely bogus.  this rule is out there because there's some old timers on the board that makes these rules and are old school runners.  they can't except change....maybe they should of listened to dylan a little more "for the times they are a changin'"

This rule is all about lawyers and insurance companies. How many accidents have you seen occur from a person running a 8 or 9 minute mile pace in a marathon...
