All - here is a proposal I sent to COP today. I would appreciate
any advice or suggestions.

TOSRV Director –
I have ridden TOSRV for 12 years, and hope to do so for many more.
I do have a number of riding friends who no longer attend TOSRV, and
the primary reason is the route – in particular the mostly
unpleasant section of State Route 104 from Chillicothe to I-270.
This section of road has gotten increasingly busy over the last 15
years, and particularly in the last 5-7. It has never been
especially attractive, not nearly as pleasing as the route south of
Chillicothe, but in recent years it has simply become less and less
safe as the volume of traffic has increased noticeably.
I would like to suggest for your consideration a new route from
Columbus to Chillicothe. Ed Honton's fine new map collection for
central Ohio shows a viable alternative which roughly parallels 104
to the west, yet avoids high traffic roads. From Columbus, the
route leaves 104 at Borror Road, and goes south to Commercial Point,
Matville, Darbyville and Williamsport, before entering Chillicothe
on Egypt Pike. In addition to avoiding the increasingly dangerous
104 this route has the advantage of passing through a handful of
small towns which should provide some interest for riders, and new
opportunities for local merchants.
This alternate route may add some additional mileage to the total,
but I do not believe it would be considerable, and I suspect most
TOSRV riders would find the change altogether welcome. I would also
be happy to do more research on this alternative if it would be of
use.
Thank you for your consideration.
