Got lost twice, the one you mention, but that was a quick fix when I
went too far and was merging on RT 23, and that was the only way to
go, other than turn around. I wasn't prepared to merge at 55mph so I
turned around. Must have told three dozen people to turn back, most
kept riding...
The other place is the turn I missed that Charlie referenced in the
TOSRV 2006 tour report. When I ended up on Parsons Ave, my pedaling
speed did increase, that is for sure. I did somehow eventually end up
on High St,through some weaving and dashing through neighborhoods
that weren't prepared for the likes of me. One good note, I happened
to miss the "hump bridge" on High St. and the construction. To
celebrate, I stopped at the bar on High St where a lot of TOSRV
riders stop right before the ending for a quick one or eight beers
before my chariot was called to drag me back where I stay before
returning to the great NW.
I refuse to look at the map other than as a curiosity before and
after the ride. TOSRV taught me to ride by intuition and it has
always worked out. I have gone 40 miles in any direction to a place
never discovered by me before and always found my way home somehow.
And trust me, out here in Oregon, out there is out there. I have
ridden 30mi w/o seeing a person,vehicle or house.
TOSRV is still my favorite ride, period. TOSRV West is great, but the
original rules............
Best regards,
Tony
