This Saturday marks the 3rd annual Ride to Survive. This ride was
established to raise funds for cancer survivors through the Lance
Armstrong Foundation. This year's event didn't look like it was going
to happen a few months ago as I had to dedicate a large amount of my
time at my father's side while he passed away due to colon cancer. But
the ride is happening and from all appearances it looks like it is
going to be a record turn out.
My wife Sue has been very good in the past few weeks to get the ride
some publicity in the Columbus newspapers and television stations.
This brings to my request: I need a few cyclist who can give up a part
of there weekend and provide a little SAG support. I am looking fot
people to DRIVE the course,(I know you would rather ride) and pick-up
people having a hard time of it. The course is very flat which
attracts alot of 1st time riders, but it is supposed to be pretty warm
so I am excepting a few people to take on more of the course than they
are ready for. Your job is to give them a ride to a rest area or back
to the start in Hilliard.
So if you have a car, van or truck and bike rack and would like to
help this Saturaday please visit our website at www.ride2survive.org
and drop me a message or give me a call and let me know. You don't
have to be out there all day. Any help would be great. Registration
starts at 7:00 AM and I expect all riders will be off the course by
5:00 PM.
