The Topeka ScareCrows of the United States Hockey
League (USHL) announced that the team traded defenseman
Matt Mannina and forward Grant Goeckner-Zoeller to the
Rochester Mustangs for defenseman Tim Conboy.<br>Conboy, a
6-foot-1, 206-pound native of Rosemount, Minn., led the
USHL with 256 penalty minutes in 51 games last season.
In 13 games this year, the 19-year-old has seven
points on six assists and 61 penalty minutes. He missed
over 20 games in the first half of the season with a
laceration to his wrist that cut tendons.<br><br>"We are
picking up a top-end defenseman who is a bona fide
heavyweight in this league," head coach Bliss Littler said.
"Tim will bring some much needed on-ice presence and
toughness to this team."<br><br>Conboy has already
committed to St. Cloud State University of the WCHA for
next season, and was listed in the seventh round,
191st overall, on the NHL's Central Scouting Service
Midseason Ranking.<br><br>Mannina was the Crows leading
scoring defenseman with 13 points and nine assists.
Goeckner-Zoeller had tallied 18 points on 12 assists in 31
games.<br><br>"It's always tough to move players that have been with
you throughout the season," Littler said. "But we
have to do what is best for the team."<br><br>This is
the sixth roster move the Crows coaching staff has
made heading into the trade deadline of midnight
tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 15). The Crows have added forwards
Emery Olauson, Alex Rogosheske, Justin Schabes and Kyle
Cash, and have added defensemen Steve Czech and Tim
Conboy.<br><br>"I feel we have made real quality additions without
mortgaging our future," Littler said<br><br>All the new
additions will be in uniform as the Crows battle the
Rochester Mustangs on Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 19
with both games starting at 7:05 p.m. at Landon Arena
in the Kansas ExpoCentre.
