Moore signs on for 2000-01 season<br><br>Binghamton,
NY- BC ICEMEN General Manager Patrick Snyder
announced today that the two-time defending Eastern
Division champions have re-signed forward Rob Voltera and
signed high-scoring veteran center Steve Moore for the
2000-2001 season. Terms of the deals will not be
forthcoming.<br><br>Moore has averaged 34 goals and 40 assists over his
five professional seasons. He continued to build a
reputation as a premier scorer last season when he tallied
36 goals and 40 assists for the Topeka Scarecrows of
the Central Hockey League. His goal total was ninth
in the CHL while his 15 power-play goals set a
Topeka club record.<br><br>29-year-old Gardiner, Maine
native set career highs with 38 goals, 59 assists, 97
points, and 142 penalty minutes during the 1997-98 season
with the Oklahoma City Blazers (CHL). He played
college hockey at SUNY-Plattsburgh from
1992-1994.<br><br>Voltera gave the ICEMEN a physical and scoring presence
as a rookie last season before succumbing to a
shoulder injury that ended his season on March 14th. The
22-year-old resident of Campbell River, BC showed marked
improvement as he learned the professional game last season.
After opening the campaign with one goal in his first
29 games, he scored six in his final 25. Three of
his seven goals were game-winning
tallies.<br><br>"Rob became a strong player last year before his
injury. With experience and good health he can be a
premier power forward for us," said ICEMEN General
Manager Patrick Snyder. "Moore is a proven scorer who
gives us a great trio of centers with Derek Wood and
Derek Knorr. He’s especially effective on the power
play."<br><br>Moore and Voltera are the fourth and fifth players
under contract to the ICEMEN for the 2000-2001 season.
The others are centers Derek Knorr and Derek Wood,
and forward Justin Plamondon.
