Topeka ScareCrows owner Jonathan Fleisig has
become a camp counselor. No, he hasn't given up his day
job, but Fleisig is spending two weeks at Paul
Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp as a camp counselor.
<br><br>"Anyone who knows Jonathan knows how he feels about
giving to those in need," said ScareCrows General
Manager Doug Miller. "It feels great to work for someone
who cares so much." <br><br>The Camp, which serves
over 900 children per summer, is for children with
cancer and serious blood diseases. The children and
their families not only attend camp, but also
participate in year-round programs for free. <br><br>The Hole
in the Wall Gang Camp is in the middle of a 300-acre
forest in Connecticut. It offers a wide range of
activities, including fishing, swimming, and arts and crafts.
<br><br>Under the guidance of five nurses, two doctors, 30
counselors, 30 program directors and another two dozen staff
members, campers experience a joyous holiday.
Approximately, 11 children from Kansas and Missouri attend the
camp each summer. <br><br>The Camp operates on the
belief that every camper is going to be an adult and
needs a good childhood to become one.
